Syracuse basketball 2024 five-star recruiting target Elliot Cadeau, who was offered a scholarship by the Orange late last year, said in a recent interview that three top-flight programs are in communication with him the most these days.

Those suitors are 2022 NCAA Tournament runner-up North Carolina, 2021 national champion Baylor and 2019 Big Dance finalist Texas Tech, per Cadeau’s recent interview with top high-school analyst Alex Karamanos.

The 6-foot-1 Cadeau has said in numerous interviews over the last few months that the ‘Cuse has been one of the teams in most contact for him (along with others like Texas Tech and Tennessee).

However, on June 15, college coaches could begin directly reaching out to 2024 high-school players, and Cadeau has seen his recruitment pick up a lot of steam.

Lately, various blue-blood teams and other recruiting heavyweights have begun vying for Cadeau, a top-10 national prospect who is deemed by several recruiting services as the No. 1 point guard across the country in his class.

Syracuse basketball offered 2024 five-star point guard Elliot Cadeau last November.

When Cadeau has been asked more recently which squads are in the most frequent contact with him, I’ve seen fewer mentions of the Orange than I did, say, six months ago.

But again, the contact period for this cycle has opened up, which means that Cadeau is likely hearing from many more suitors these days.

Plus, the Orange got involved with his recruitment early on, so hopefully that will prove important as Syracuse basketball looks to emerge as a significant contender for Cadeau.

This spring and summer, he earned a lot of praise from national recruiting analysts and scouts for his performances on the AAU circuit for the New York City-based New Heights Lightning in Nike’s EYBL league.

Additionally, Cadeau has gained valuable experience suiting up for Sweden’s U18 national team, he said to Karamanos.

As a sophomore, Cadeau went to Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J. In the upcoming 2022-23 stanza, though, he will compete as a junior for the powerhouse Link Academy in Branson, Mo.

His offer sheet, beyond Syracuse basketball, includes North Carolina, Baylor, Louisville, Georgetown, Norfolk State, 2022 NCAA Tournament winner Kansas, Maryland, Seton Hall, Providence, St. John’s, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, TCU, UMass, Howard and Siena.

Cadeau is also reportedly receiving interest from blue-blood Kentucky. We’ve noted a couple of times that he plans to take an official visit to Texas Tech in late September, and I could see him visiting other squads such as UNC and Baylor. Quick update here: between when I wrote this piece, and when it published, a tweet came out from college basketball insider Adam Zagoria that Cadeau isn’t planning to visit Baylor.

I’m holding out hope that Cadeau will elect to make a trip to the Hill for an unofficial or official visit at some point down the line.

At the time of this writing, all of the primary recruiting services had him ranked in the top 15 of his class. The two industry-generated rating systems, the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Consensus, each had Cadeau within the top 10.
