Syracuse Basketball: 4-star Canadian guard says Orange a dream school
By Neil Adler
In an interview earlier this month, a fast-rising 2023 guard who hails from Canada said that one of his dream schools is Syracuse basketball, along with a few blue-blood programs.
This four-star prospect, 6-foot-3 Vasean Allette of Scarborough, Ontario, was absolutely sensational on the AAU circuit this spring and summer for the Toronto-based Canada Elite in the Under Armour Association league.
Per a recent tweet from Synergy, the top-100 Allette proved one of the most efficient scorers during the Under Armour Association circuit in recent months.
National recruiting analysts and scouts praise Allette for his scoring prowess, ball-handling skills, ability to effectively finish around the rim, and keen sense to facilitate for his teammates.
We’d love to see Syracuse basketball offer 2023 four-star guard Vasean Allette.
In a recent Q&A with scouting service Pro Insight, Allette said that his four dream schools are the Orange, Kentucky, North Carolina and UCLA.
I’m not aware of the ‘Cuse coaching staff currently being in pursuit of Allette, but maybe that will change. That being said, he did recently disclose via Twitter a top 10 of Buffalo, Georgia Tech, Boston College, St. John’s, DePaul, Dayton, Arizona State, VCU, SMU and UC Santa Barbara.
In a recent interview with 247Sports national analyst Dushawn London, the rising senior at the United Scholastic Academy in Toronto said he’s eyeing a commitment announcement “by maybe October or November the latest.”
Allette says that he’s in the process of mapping out his five official visits, with September trips already planned to Arizona State and Georgia Tech, according to London’s piece.
Not all of the primary recruiting services rate Allette, although 247Sports places him as four stars, No. 100 overall, No. 18 at combo guard and No. 1 in Ontario.
In reviewing various recruiting Web sites, it looks like he has nearly 20 scholarship offers in total. Allette’s offer sheet includes UC Santa Barbara, Dayton, Boston College, DePaul, VCU, St. John’s, SMU, Buffalo, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, Murray State, Rutgers, St. Bonaventure, Washington State, Fordham, Kent State, Rhode Island, Tennessee State and Long Island.
In recent weeks, Syracuse basketball has missed out on several four-star guards in the 2023 cycle. Orange coaches, though, continue to target 2023 four-star guard Mike Williams from Maryland, who plans to officially visit the Hill in mid-September.
The current ‘Cuse roster does include three freshmen guards, although if one possibly leaves early for the pros, such as Judah Mintz, or elects to transfer after the 2022-23 campaign, then Syracuse basketball will definitely want to add another guard to the roster prior to the 2023-24 stanza commencing.
We’ll certainly monitor if the Orange ends up offering a scholarship to Allette.
