Syracuse football recently made the top six for a consensus three-star defensive end, however, several projections are forecasting that he will end up choosing another team.
Nnamdi Udeogu, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound edge in the 2023 class from Maryland, announced his half-dozen finalists via social media, and they are the Orange, Penn, Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Princeton and Yale.
On his Twitter page, Udeogu says that he is also a tight end, a discus thrower, and plays small forward in basketball. He is a rising senior at the Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Md.
Throughout his recruiting process, Udeogu has received more than 20 scholarship offers, according to his bio on the 247Sports Web site.
Syracuse football is in the mix for 2023 three-star defensive end Nnamdi Udeogu.
As of Tuesday, at least two predictions in the direction of Rutgers had been logged for Udeogu. One is from 247Sports national analyst Brian Dohn, and the second is by Richard Schnyderite on Rivals.com.
Additionally, as of Tuesday, Rutgers was perceived as the heavy front-runner for Udeogu (95.4 percent), according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine.
Per a recent article from SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, Udeogu could make a commitment announcement in the next month or so.
Syracuse football coaches are looking to possibly get Udeogu on the ‘Cuse campus for a visit before a decision is made, according to McAllister. Udeogu officially visited both Rutgers and Vanderbilt in June, McAllister reports.
Let’s review some of the latest 2023 national rankings for Udeogu. At the time of this writing, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite had him at No. 846 overall, No. 76 at the edge, and No. 16 in Maryland.
Another industry-generated rating system, the On3 Consensus, placed Udeogu at No. 1,101 across the country, No. 86 at the edge, and No. 20 in Maryland.
Additionally, both 247Sports and On3 rank Udeogu as a top-90 prospect at the edge, as well as a top-16 player in Maryland.
If the Orange ultimately landed Udeogu, it would prove a strong pick-up in the team’s 2023 recruiting class.
Not too long ago, Syracuse football also made the top 12 for 2024 four-star defensive back Kenny Woseley II. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Woseley, a rising junior at the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia, is one of the top cornerbacks across the country in his class.
