Syracuse football remains in contention for 2024 four-star defensive back Kenny Woseley II from Philadelphia after he released his current top 12 on social media.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Woseley is a highly rated national prospect in the rising-junior class. Multiple recruiting services also place him among the very best cornerbacks across the country in his cycle.

In no particular order, Woseley’s top 12 consists of the Orange, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Pittsburgh, defending College Football Playoff national champion Georgia, Texas A&M, Penn State, Maryland, Wisconsin, Oregon, Michigan, Rutgers, Michigan State and Cincinnati.

I have to say, that’s a mighty impressive list of finalists for Woseley, who attends the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia. Do I think that the ‘Cuse is a long shot to win out here? Yes. Do I think it’s cool that the Orange made Woseley’s top 12? Absolutely.

Syracuse football faces stiff competition for four-star defensive back Kenny Woseley II.

The Orange coaching staff offered a scholarship to Woseley in April, and he took an unofficial visit to the Hill in June. Reports indicated that his trip to Central New York went quite well.

Throughout his recruiting process, Woseley has picked up more than 20 scholarship offers, from teams such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Florida, Georgia Tech, Penn State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Maryland, Ole Miss, Tennessee, UConn, Mississippi State and Temple.

If he were to ultimately choose the ‘Cuse, it would prove a massive recruiting victory for Syracuse football. All of the primary recruiting services give stellar ratings to Woseley, with Rivals.com the most bullish, listing him as a top-200 national prospect in 2024 as well as a top-20 cornerback in his class.

As we noted in another column a few months back, with regard to his June unofficial visit to the Orange, Woseley said in part to SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, “My interest in Syracuse is definitely higher than before.”

In recent years, multiple former ‘Cuse stars in the team’s secondary have gone on to play in the NFL. On the current Orange roster, Syracuse football has at least two players, Duce Chestnut and Garrett Williams, whom I believe will be suiting up on Sundays down the line.

The recent success of ‘Cuse defensive backs, hopefully, will prove quite appealing to Kenny Woseley II.
