Syracuse basketball wasn’t mentioned in a relatively new article on 2024 five-star prospect Elliot Cadeau, who was offered by the ‘Cuse last November and is rated by some recruiting services as the country’s No. 1 point guard in this class.
Does this mean that the Orange is out of the mix for the 6-foot-1 Cadeau? Of course not (at least in my humble opinion). But I will say that I’ve come across a couple of media reports lately where Cadeau has discussed some of his top suitors, and the ‘Cuse isn’t included.
Then again, in numerous prior stories on Cadeau, he has frequently brought up that the Orange, Texas Tech and Tennessee had been among the schools recruiting him the hardest.
So, without question, Syracuse basketball coaches may still be prioritizing Cadeau in the 2024 cycle. One important point to note here is that college coaches, beginning on June 15, could begin initiating direct contact with 2024 players.
As such, Cadeau has seen his list of scholarship offers and interest expand, including from multiple blue-blood programs and other recruiting heavyweights in collegiate hoops.
Syracuse basketball faces stiff competition for five-star point guard Elliot Cadeau.
In a fairly recent article from college basketball insider Adam Zagoria, Cadeau discussed a handful of his top suitors, such as 2022 NCAA Tournament runner-up North Carolina, Texas Tech, 2021 national champion Baylor, Georgetown, Louisville and Kentucky.
Multiple reports have indicated that Cadeau will take an official visit to Texas Tech in late September. He also said to Zagoria that he is “definitely going to visit UNC.”
Besides Syracuse basketball, Cadeau holds offers from teams such as North Carolina, Baylor, Louisville, Georgetown, Norfolk State, 2022 Big Dance winner Kansas, Maryland, Seton Hall, Providence, St. John’s, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, TCU, UMass, Howard and Siena.
In grassroots basketball, Cadeau had many excellent performances in recent months while competing for one of the best AAU groups across the country, the New York City-based New Heights Lightning in Nike’s EYBL league.
Per Zagoria, Cadeau recently had some massive games in landing MVP honors as Sweden captured the Division B final in the European U18 final.
Cadeau was also among the select group of high-school prospects who were picked to compete at the Under Armour Next Elite 24 showcase event in Chicago.
As a sophomore, Cadeau attended Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J. However, he has decided to transfer to the powerhouse Link Academy in Branson, Mo., for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Additionally, Cadeau told Zagoria that he continues to weigh a possible reclassification from the 2024 cycle to the 2023 class. We’ll continue to track Cadeau’s recruitment moving forward.
