Syracuse Basketball: 5-star recruit a big contender for No. 1 national rating

Vyctorius Miller, a 2024 five-star wing who reportedly holds a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball, recently wrapped up a stellar AAU circuit and is eyeing campus visits.

The 6-foot-5 Miller earned positive reviews from national analysts and scouts for his spring and summer performances in grassroots basketball for the Los Angeles-based West Coast Elite in the Under Armour Association league.

Since the contact period opened up in mid-June, media reports suggest that Miller is hearing from a long list of schools, which is no surprise, given that he’s a significant contender for the No. 1 national rating in the rising-junior class, experts say.

Multiple recruiting Web sites note that Miller has an offer from the Orange, although it’s unclear to me when the ‘Cuse might have doled out that scholarship offer to him.

Miller suited up in his sophomore season for Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, Calif., during a 2021-22 term where experts lauded his play.

In looking ahead to the 2022-23 term, his junior year, Miller will compete for one of the best high-school teams around the country, the powerhouse AZ Compass Prep School in Chandler, Ariz.

A stanza ago, the AZ Compass Prep School was a top-10 national squad, and the Dragons earned a bid to the 2022 GEICO Nationals that were held this past spring in Ft. Myers, Fla.

In 2022-23, AZ Compass Prep will become a member of the prestigious National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (“NIBC”), a 10-team super league comprised of prep schools and independent basketball academies.

By the way, for a little context, Syracuse basketball 2022 four-star signees Judah Mintz and Chris Bunch suited up in the NIBC during their senior seasons.

Mintz was a star for the Oak Hill Academy from Mouth of Wilson, Va., while Bunch had a solid term for the Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah.

Getting back to Miller, besides the Orange, others to have offered him include 2022 NCAA Tournament winner Kansas, Georgetown, UCLA, Southern California, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Texas Tech, LSU, Arizona, Arizona State, Ole Miss, California, Washington State and Oklahoma State.

According to recruiting services and reports, Duke, Kentucky and Oregon are among other squads showing interest in Miller.

Last month, he discussed some programs that he’s eyeing for potential upcoming visits in an interview with 247Sports national analyst Travis Branham. Miller mentioned Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma State, UCLA and Southern Cal.

At this juncture, all of the primary recruiting services place him within the top-25 overall, although Miller is within the top-10 nationally in 2024 according to several recruiting Web sites.
