During the grassroots basketball circuit this spring and summer, Syracuse basketball recruiting target Elijah Moore from New York City has built up a reputation as one of the most lethal shooters from deep across the nation.
Ever since the Orange offered the 6-foot-4 shooting guard this past April, I’ve come across a slew of comments on social media from national recruiting analysts and scouts that speak to Moore’s prowess from beyond the arc.
The rising junior has put on a ton of stand-out performances in recent months on the AAU circuit, where he suits up for the Bronx, N.Y.-based Wiz Kids in the Adidas league.
And in the coming weeks, Moore will put his talents on display in Central New York when he takes an unofficial visit to the Hill to attend the Orange’s annual Elite Camp, according to a report.
Syracuse basketball has gotten into the fray for elite guard Elijah Moore early on in his recruitment.
Pro Insight director of scouting Andrew Slater recently tweeted out that Moore will participate in the Orange’s Elite Camp in late August. At this event, Moore will have an opportunity to showcase his abilities in front of ‘Cuse coaches.

In his sophomore year, Moore played a key role in leading Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., to the New York state Catholic High School Athletic Association (“CHSAA”) Class AA title during the 2021-22 stanza.
Looking ahead to his junior term, Cardinal Hayes is likely to be a pre-season top-25 squad in the national rankings. Moore had somewhat flown under the radar on a national scale earlier this year, but his AAU performances have changed that.
With college coaches having been able to directly communicate with 2024 prospects since June 15, Moore should see his offer sheet further expand.
At present, besides Syracuse basketball, he holds offers from teams such as Seton Hall, Xavier, UConn, St. John’s, Mississippi State, Bryant, Temple, Saint Peter’s, Columbia, Fordham and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Slater’s recent tweet said that Moore also had planned to visit UConn in August, and he’s garnering interest from Maryland, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
I’ve seen other reports highlighting that Moore may be getting interest from UCLA, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Penn State and California, among others.
Not too long ago, when Rivals.com had refreshed its 2024 national ratings, Moore made his debut there as three stars and No. 104 overall.
My sense is that when all is said and done, this Syracuse basketball recruit will be a consensus four-star player well within the top-100 around the country in his cycle.
