Syracuse basketball will hold its annual Elite Camp in late August, and one of the expected attendees is a four-star, top-50 prospect in the rising-junior class, according to a media report.
SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister recently reported that 2024 four-star wing James Moore will head to the Hill for an unofficial visit to attend the Orange’s Elite Camp, which is slated for August 27.
On his Twitter page, Moore says that he is a 6-foot-9 wing who attends The Patrick School in Hillside, N.J. In grassroots basketball, Moore suits up for the New York City-based NY Renaissance in Nike’s EYBL league.
By the way, another member of the NY Renaissance is fast-rising 2024 wing Tyler Betsey. The 6-foot-8 Betsey, who will spend his junior year at St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn., received a scholarship offer from the ‘Cuse toward the beginning of July.
Syracuse basketball is displaying interest in 2024 four-star wing James Moore.
It looks like Moore’s recruitment is just starting to take off, as he has hauled in a handful of early offers, with many more likely on the horizon.
I say this, in part, because on June 15, college coaches were able to start making direct contact with 2024 high-school prospects.
According to recruiting services and his Twitter page, Moore has offers from teams such as Pittsburgh, Creighton, Bryant, TCU, Nebraska and UAB. McAllister’s article says that Penn State has also offered Moore.
At the end of May, scouting service The Miller Report said in a tweet that Moore had planned to take an unofficial visit to Ohio State from June 10 to June 12.
Orange coaches handed out a couple of offers at last summer’s Elite Camp, and I would imagine that this could occur again in late August. We’ll certainly monitor whether the ‘Cuse ends up offering Moore at the upcoming Elite Camp.
At present, multiple recruiting services rate him as a four-star prospect, although Rivals.com has him as three stars, at least for now.
Nationally speaking in the 2024 class, Moore is No. 49 via 247Sports, as well as the No. 7 power forward and the No. 5 player in New Jersey. Rivals.com places Moore at No. 119 overall.
The industry-generated 247Sports Composite, at the time of this writing, put Moore at No. 77 across the country, No. 13 at power forward and No. 4 in New Jersey.
Another industry-generated ranking system, the On3 Consensus, rated him at No. 82 nationwide, No. 15 at power forward and No. 5 in New Jersey.
