According to the 247Sports Web site, Syracuse basketball is among a variety of teams showing interest in underrated but fast-rising 2024 guard Jalil Bethea out of the Philadelphia area.

The 6-foot-4 Bethea is listed on recruiting Web sites as either a point guard or a combo guard. He is a rising junior at Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster, Pa.

On the AAU circuit, Bethea suits up for the Philadelphia-based Team Final in Nike’s EYBL league, and Team Final is one of the premier programs nationwide in grassroots basketball.

Bethea is AAU teammates with 2024 four-star point guard Robert Wright III, who received a scholarship offer from the Orange in March. The 6-foot-1 Wright goes to Neumann-Goretti High School in Philadelphia.

Syracuse basketball has interest in a talented 2024 guard from Philly.

Not too long ago, the EYBL league recently held its season-ending Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C. Rivals.com national analyst Travis Graf said in an article that Bethea absolutely boosted his stock for his play at Peach Jam.

"Graf wrote in part, “Bethea not only has the ability to get red hot from the outside, but he showed off some very sound decision making instincts as well. He moves the ball well around the perimeter and plays with a very strong IQ.”"

Under his bio on the 247Sports Web site, teams displaying interest in Bethea include the ‘Cuse, DePaul, Miami and Penn State.

Per recruiting services, he has acquired scholarship offers from squads such as Villanova, UCLA, VCU, Mississippi State, Fairfield, Bryant, Saint Joseph’s, Jacksonville, Albany, Temple, Mount St. Mary’s, Radford and Robert Morris.

On June 15, the contact period opened up for college coaches to be able to directly communicate with 2024 high-school players. I would imagine that Bethea will continue to see his offer sheet expand.

What’s more, while he isn’t presently ranked on a national scale by the main recruiting services in the rising-junior class, I could absolutely see that changing.

Based on comments from experts regarding his play at Peach Jam, Bethea definitely appears to be a four-star, top-100 prospect in his cycle, if not higher than that.

We’ll of course monitor whether Orange coaches ultimately offer a scholarship to Bethea.
