Syracuse Basketball: ‘Cuse 5-star recruits named to All-Peach Jam teams
By Neil Adler
Several Syracuse basketball recruiting targets in the 2023 and 2024 classes have received praise from experts for their recent performances in grassroots basketball.
Nike’s EYBL league recently concluded its annual Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C. In the title game, the Overland Park, Kan.-based MoKan Elite defeated the Washington, D.C.-based Team Takeover, 53-52, to win the Peach Jam crown.
As part of Peach Jam awards doled out by analysts and scouts on theseasonticket.com, Team Takeover’s Darren Harris was named to the All-Underclassman squad.
The 6-foot-6 Harris is a 2024 four-star small forward who attends St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Va. Per media reports, the Orange appeared to have reached out to Harris once the contact period for 2024 prospects opened up on June 15.
Other Syracuse basketball targets were excellent at Peach Jam, too.
On the All-Peach Jam second team is 2023 five-star point guard D.J. Wagner, who was offered a scholarship by the Orange about a year ago.
He is a rising at Camden High School in Camden, N.J., and suits up on the AAU circuit for the New Jersey Scholars Elite Basketball Club. At Peach Jam, the 6-foot-3 Wagner averaged 15.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game, according to theseasonticket.com, which by the way lists a lot of individual game performances in this piece.
Elliot Cadeau, a five-star point guard who is reportedly being prioritized by the Orange in the 2024 class, landed on the All-Peach Jam third team.
The ‘Cuse offered the 6-foot-1 Cadeau in November, and he has said in numerous interviews that Syracuse basketball is among the suitors recruiting him hard.
That being said, multiple blue-blood programs have recently got into the mix for Cadeau, who is with the New York City-based New Heights Lightning and will compete as a junior for the Link Academy in Branson, Mo.
At Peach Jam, Cadeau tallied averages of 10.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.3 steals per affair. He was also named to the All-Underclassman group.
Last but not least, talented and underrated 2024 guard Kayvaun Mulready got named to the All-Underclassman team as well.
Reports have suggested that the Orange has shown interest in the 6-foot-4 Mulready, who is with the Albany City Rocks and attends the Worcester Academy in Worcester, Mass.
Lately, Mulready has picked up offers from squads such as Mike Hopkins-led Washington, Virginia Tech, Xavier, Boston College, Nebraska, Providence, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest, among others.
He has other offers from St. Bonaventure, Bryant, Fairfield, Northwestern, UMass, Iona and Siena.
