Former Syracuse basketball player Cole Swider is having himself some kind of summer to date.

The 6-foot-9 forward, who was the second-leading scorer for the Orange during his first and only season on the Hill, is suiting up for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2022 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

Swider, who elected to depart the ‘Cuse after his senior year and pursue a professional career, is averaging 13.2 points per game over his first five summer league contests, according to an announcement from SU Athletics.

Last month, he signed a two-way contract with the Lakers. And Swider certainly is impressing this Los Angeles franchise so far in the summer league.

On a personal note, I’m a big fan of Cole Swider. I sincerely hope that he is able to carve out a long and successful pro career, whether in the NBA or elsewhere.

Former Syracuse basketball forward Cole Swider is making the most of his NBA Summer League opportunity.

Per the press release from cuse.com, Swider through his first five summer league encounters is hitting on 52.5 percent from the field and a ridiculous 56.7 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.

Additionally, Swider has connected on 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. Not too shabby at all.

In his most recent outing, this past Sunday, Swider paced the Lakers with 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to go along with four rebounds, although Los Angeles fell in double overtime to the Charlotte Hornets, 89-86.

According to a story on nba.com, the Lakers were next slated to play this Tuesday night, July 12, at 11 pm EST versus the Los Angeles Clippers, with television coverage on NBA TV.

For the 2021-22 season, his senior term, Swider transferred to Syracuse basketball after playing his first three stanzas with former Big East Conference rival Villanova.

Although the Orange went a disappointing 16-17 in 2021-22, Swider put forth a solid campaign, and he came on strong later in the season.

He ended up averaging 13.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals per affair with the ‘Cuse, while connecting on 44.0 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 86.6 percent from the charity stripe.

Swider only trailed former Syracuse basketball shooting guard Buddy Boeheim in scoring on the 2021-22 Orange roster, and Swider led the team in rebounds per game.

Buddy Boeheim and former ‘Cuse forward Jimmy Boeheim are both suiting up for the Detroit Pistons during the 2022 NBA Summer League.
