Matthew Scicchitano, a three-star multi-positional prospect in the rising-senior class from Pennsylvania, recently said on Twitter that Syracuse football is presently in his top three.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Scicchitano has the Orange, Temple and Coastal Carolina presently in his top three, but he did note via Twitter that his recruitment remains open.

Scicchitano, a member of the 2023 class, attends Mount Carmel Area High School in Mt. Carmel, Pa.

Several recruiting services list him as a defensive lineman, however, on his Twitter account, Scicchitano says that he is a defensive lineman, a tight end and an offensive lineman.

Syracuse football appears to be firmly in the mix for three-star Matthew Scicchitano.

According to his bio on the 247Sports Web site, Scicchitano received a scholarship offer from the ‘Cuse on May 13. That recruiting service also says he plans to take an official visit to the Hill on June 24.

Other near-term visits for Scicchitano were slated for Temple on June 15 and Coastal Carolina on June 17, per 247Sports.

In reviewing various recruiting services, it seems that Scicchitano holds around 20 offers, including from teams like Akron, Army, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Columbia, Harvard, Holy Cross, James Madison, Kent State, Navy, Old Dominion, Penn, Princeton and Rhode Island.

Wisconsin out of the Big Ten Conference also may be showing interest in him, according to recruiting services.

At present, I’m not seeing Scicchitano listed in the 2023 national rankings from the primary recruiting Web sites, although Rivals.com does have him as a three-star defensive tackle in this class.

We’ll obviously continue to track Scicchitano’s recruitment going forward.

Not too long ago, 2023 three-star offensive lineman Naquil Betrand included the ‘Cuse in his top 10, along with Texas A&M, defending national champion Georgia, Kentucky, Auburn, Colorado, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Maryland and Boston College.

The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Betrand out of Northeast High School in Philadelphia did verbally commit to Colorado, one of his 10 finalists, in March, but he appears to be keeping his recruitment open for now.

Betrand, placed by ESPN as a top-40 offensive tackle in the 2023 class, reportedly will travel to Central New York for an official visit with the Orange from June 17 to June 19.

June is proving to be a busy month for Syracuse football in terms of various 2023 commits and recruiting targets making trips to the ‘Cuse campus.

Throughout this month, other Orange recruits planning to officially visit include three-star offensive lineman Eric King, edge Jalil Smith, three-star linebacker Zyian Moultrie-Goddard and three-star offensive lineman Deandre Duffus, among others.

Three-star tight end/defensive end commit David Clement and three-star quarterback commit LaNorris Sellers are also expected to officially visit the Hill in June.
