One of the main composite-ranking services has refreshed its national rankings for the 2023 class, and we’re taking a closer look at where various Syracuse football targets in this cycle reside.

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite, just a few days ago, updated its 2023 player ratings. This composite factors in individual rankings from 247Sports, ESPN, On3 and Rivals.com.

While the Orange coaching staff, similar to coaching staffs throughout the country at high-major programs, has doled out offers to a wide variety of 2023 players, we’re focusing here on some of the top recruiting targets for the ‘Cuse in the rising-senior class at numerous positions.

Let’s examine where Syracuse football 2023 prospects are situated in new composite rankings.

At running back, three-star London Montgomery is listed at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds on the 247Sports Web site. He attends the Scranton Preparatory School in Scranton, Pa., and was offered a scholarship by the Orange in early March.

Within the 2023 cycle, Montgomery is rated at No. 392 nationally, No. 27 at running back and No. 8 in Pennsylvania, per the 247Sports Composite.

Last month, four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams out of Lakeland Senior High School in Lakeland, Fla., released a top 10 of Syracuse football, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Southern California and USF.

Offered by the ‘Cuse in November of 2021, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound Williams checks in at No. 142 overall, No. 24 at wide receiver and No. 26 in Florida via the composite.

In late April, the Orange offered three-star wide receiver Sean Williams from St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C.

According to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Williams is No. 1,096 nationwide, No. 153 at his position and No. 7 in D.C.

On the offensive line, three-star Eric King plans to make an official visit to the Hill from June 24 to June 26. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound King attends the Saint Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City, N.J.

Analysts on the 247Sports Web site, the On3 Web site and Rivals.com are giving Syracuse football a lot of buzz in King’s recruitment.

The composite has him at No. 965 nationally, No. 70 at interior offensive lineman and No. 16 in New Jersey. King was offered by the Orange in January of 2021.

In April, the ‘Cuse offered three-star offensive lineman Deandre Duffus, who is out of Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood, Fla.

The 6-foot-4, 330-pound Duffus is eyeing an official visit to the Orange campus on June 17. The 247Sports Composite rates him at No. 1,091 overall, No. 100 at offensive tackle and No. 157 in Florida.

Three-star defensive lineman Eric Gardner Jr. suits up for Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster, Pa. Syracuse football offered him in February of this year, per 247Sports.

At present, the composite ranks the 6-foot-1, 240-pound Gardner at No. 965 nationwide, No. 113 at defensive lineman and No. 22 in Pennsylvania.

Last but certainly not least, three-star defensive back Nazir Ward picked up an Orange offer this past January. Listed at 6-foot, 155 pounds, he is out of Miami Northwestern Senior High School in Miami.
