Later this month, consensus three-star offensive lineman Eric King from New Jersey is expected to make an official visit to Syracuse football.
Ahead of that trip, the Orange is getting some analyst “buzz” for the 6-foot-3, 300-pound King on various recruiting Web sites. As I always like to say, take these sorts of prognostications with the proverbial grain of salt.
That being said, it can’t be a bad thing for the ‘Cuse, which seems to be in a good position with King, a 2023 prospect and one of the top offensive linemen in the Northeast region.
As of Friday evening, I counted at least four projections in the Orange’s direction for King between the 247Sports Web site and Rivals.com.
Additionally, under his bio on the On3 Web site, that recruiting service’s “recruiting prediction machine” was heavily favoring the ‘Cuse for King, who is a rising senior at the Saint Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City, N.J.
Syracuse football will soon welcome three-star offensive lineman Eric King to the Hill.
Per recruiting services, the Orange coaching staff offered a scholarship to King in January of 2021.
He recently said via Twitter that he would travel to Central New York for an official visit from June 24 to June 26.
Throughout his recruiting process, besides Syracuse football, King has obtained offers from teams such as Rutgers, Liberty, Temple, UMass, Buffalo, Kent State, Old Dominion and Delaware State.
Last summer, King made an unofficial visit to Rutgers, according to the 247Sports Web site.
Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Consensus place King within the top-1,000 across the country in the 2023 cycle.
When I penned this column, the 247Sports Composite had him at No. 964 nationally, No. 70 at interior offensive lineman and No. 16 in New Jersey.
Over at the On3 Consensus, King was No. 926 overall, No. 96 at interior offensive lineman and No. 16 in New Jersey.
Via Rivals.com, he is ranked as the No. 22 offensive guard and the No. 10 prospect in New Jersey within the 2023 class.
To reiterate, the “buzz” that the ‘Cuse is receiving for King on recruiting Web sites doesn’t guarantee that he will select Syracuse football.
At the same time, I’d have to personally say that the outlook appears to be quite positive for the Orange in King’s recruitment.
This month, Eric King will prove one of numerous recruiting targets or commits for Syracuse football in 2023 who will officially visit the ‘Cuse.
On or around June 17, tight end/defensive end commit David Clement will visit, along with targets such as edge Jalil Smith, three-star linebacker Zyian Moultrie-Goddard and three-star offensive lineman Deandre Duffus.
On June 24, beyond King, others who are planning to visit the Hill include three-star quarterback commit LaNorris Sellers.
