Last fall, we detailed how Syracuse basketball coaches were reportedly showing interest in 2024 four-star point guard Curtis Givens III, according to multiple recruiting services.

I haven’t seen anything about an official scholarship offer made by the Orange to the 6-foot-3 Givens. The ‘Cuse has doled out offers to a range of top-flight prospects in this cycle, and I’d love to see Syracuse basketball extend an offer to Givens.

According to both the 247Sports Web site and Rivals.com, the Orange is listed as having interest in Givens. He has received more than a dozen offers from various high-major programs, in addition to reported interest from the ‘Cuse and other impressive suitors.

Givens, who has been suiting up for a prep school in Tennessee, recently announced on social media that he would transfer to the country’s No. 1 prep-school squad.

Syracuse basketball should make a run at four-star point guard Curtis Givens III.

Per recruiting services and his Twitter page, Givens holds offers from teams such as Georgetown, St. John’s, Illinois, Maryland, Memphis, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, Missouri, Arizona State and Mississippi State.

The 247Sports Web site and Rivals.com state that he also holds interest from college squads including the Orange, Duke, Kansas, Houston and Oklahoma State.

Numerous recruiting services rate Givens as a four-star prospect in the 2024 class, as well as within the top-75 nationally and a top-10 point guard in this cycle.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Nike’s EYBL league on the AAU circuit held a session in Louisville, Ky. Givens, suiting up for the Overland Park, Kan.-based MoKan Elite, tallied multiple games where he scored 20 points or more.

A few weeks ago, Givens said via Twitter that he would transfer from the Memphis University School in Memphis, Tenn., to the powerhouse Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla.

The Montverde Academy has proven the nation’s premier basketball squad at the high-school level over the past handful of years. In early April, the Eagles claimed the 2022 GEICO Nationals.

A member of the prestigious National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (“NIBC”), the Montverde Academy roster also includes 2024 five-star power forward Derik Queen, who was offered by Syracuse basketball this past October.

College coaches will be able to start making direct contact with 2024 players in mid-June, so I’m sure Givens’ offer list is going to grow even larger in the near future. Let’s see if the ‘Cuse formally offers him.

Syracuse basketball coaches have offered several other point guards in this cycle, including five-star Elliot Cadeau and four-star Robert Wright III.

The 6-foot-1 Cadeau is out of Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J., and the New York City-based New Heights Lightning in Nike’s EYBL league.

The 6-foot-1 Wright, meanwhile, competes for Neumann-Goretti High School in Philadelphia as well as the Philadelphia-based Team Final, which is also in the EYBL league.
