Syracuse football 2023 three-star commit LaNorris Sellers said in a recent media report that he’s focused on the Orange, however, some other big-time programs might be showing an interest in the stellar quarterback.

As we noted earlier this week, the 6-foot-2 Sellers recently on Twitter that he plans to take an official visit to the ‘Cuse campus on June 24.

Sellers, a junior at South Florence High School in Florence, S.C., is one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks across the country in his recruiting cycle.

At one time, he was verbally committed to fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Virginia. But coaching changes in Charlottesville, including offensive coordinator Robert Anae and quarterbacks coach Jason Beck departing for similar roles with the Orange, led Sellers to reopen his recruitment back up.

Syracuse football landed a terrific prospect in three-star quarterback LaNorris Sellers.

In mid-January, the ‘Cuse coaching staff offered a scholarship to Sellers, and he committed to the Orange in early March.

Throughout his recruiting process, he has picked up other offers from teams such as Virginia Tech, Memphis, Washington State, Appalachian State and Georgia State.

In a recent piece by Phil Kornblut on sportstalksc.com, it seems that college squads potentially showing interest in Sellers include South Carolina, Appalachian State, Georgia State, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Virginia Tech, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

"However, I don’t get the sense that Orange fans should be super concerned, as Sellers said in this article, “I’m honestly focusing on Syracuse really, and if anything does come along, we’ll cross that bridge when it gets here.”"

Kornblut noted in his story that Sellers is making a trip to the Hill on June 24, adding, “that’s the only visit he has on the books for June at this point.”

Sellers said in the piece on sportstalksc.com that he has a “good relationship” with Syracuse football coaches.

As we’ve detailed before, at this juncture, both the ESPN and the On3 recruiting services place Sellers as a top-15 dual-threat quarterback within the 2023 cycle.

According to the two industry-generated recruiting services, the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Consensus, he’s also rated as a top-700 national prospect in this class.

I’m not a recruiting analyst, nor am I in the inner circle of either the Syracuse football program or Sellers. However, my gut sense is that his commitment to the Orange is absolutely solid, even if some heavyweight squads have reached out for Sellers.
