Syracuse football has extended a scholarship offer to a highly rated multi-positional athlete who suits up for a Florida prep school.

Consensus three-star Micah Mays Jr., who is listed as 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds on the 247Sports Web site, said via Twitter that he had received an offer from the Orange coaching staff.

He is a member of the 2023 recruiting cycle, and Mays attends The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Fla. On his Twitter page, he says that he is both a wide receiver and a cornerback.

Mays also does track and field at The Benjamin School, and he’s clearly a gifted all-around athlete.

Syracuse football is looking to get into the mix for three-star athlete Micah Mays Jr.

As I mentioned earlier, all of the primary recruiting services place Mays as a three-star player in the 2023 class.

His offer list is approaching 30, according to recruiting Web sites and his Twitter account. Besides the ‘Cuse, other college squads that have offered Mays include Wake Forest, N.C. State, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Duke, Louisville, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Temple, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Appalachian State and East Carolina.

The On3 Consensus rates Mays at No. 726 overall, No. 106 at wider receiver and No. 112 in Florida within his cycle. ESPN has him as the No. 81 wide receiver in 2023.

The 247Sports recruiting service puts Mays as the No. 70 athlete and the No. 90 prospect in Florida.

At the time of this writing, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranked Mays as No. 627 across the country, the No. 54 athlete and No. 98 in Florida.

We’ll obviously continue to track the recruiting process of Micah Mays Jr. moving forward. I’d love to see the Orange emerge as a significant contender for him, although the competition for Mays is clearly intense.

In related wide-receiver news that we shared a little more than a week ago, 2023 four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams recently included Syracuse football within his top-10 finalists.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Williams, out of Lakeland Senior High School in Lakeland, Fla., has a top 10 of the ‘Cuse, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Southern California and USF.

I’m not a recruiting analyst, nor am I in Williams’ inner circle, however, I would imagine that the Orange is going to prove a long shot for Williams, who is a top-200 national prospect as well as a top-35 wide receiver in the 2023 class.
