One of the top wide receivers in the junior recruiting cycle has released a list of his top-10 finalists, and Syracuse football is included here.
What’s more, this consensus four-star prospect in the 2023 class says that the ‘Cuse may be eyeing him for basketball as well.
Tyler Williams, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound athlete out of Lakeland Senior High School in Lakeland, Fla., said on Twitter that his top-10 list of football suitors consists of Syracuse football, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Southern California and USF.
That’s quite a group there. I imagine that the Orange will face a big-time uphill battle in trying to win out for Williams, who is ranked inside the top-200 nationally as well as the top-35 at wide receiver in his class, according to the primary recruiting services.
Syracuse football is in contention, at least for now, for four-star WR Tyler Williams.
According to his bio on the 247Sports Web site, Williams has received more than 40 scholarship offers throughout his recruiting process. Per 247Sports, the ‘Cuse offered him in November of 2021.
"In an article on theledger.com, where he discussed his 10 finalists, Williams said about the Orange, “They are actually one of the only schools allowing me to play both basketball and football. That shows me the love as an athlete.”"
At this juncture, I’m not seeing any predictions from national analysts or other recruiting insiders on the main recruiting Web sites as to a potential future collegiate destination for Williams. That being said, I assume that Syracuse football is likely a long shot for him, given the other heavyweights on his top-10 list.
As far as national rankings go, Williams is No. 190 overall, No. 26 at wide receiver and No. 37 in Florida, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
The 247Sports recruiting service places him as the No. 32 wide receiver and the No. 58 prospect in Florida.
ESPN rates Williams as No. 162 across the country, No. 25 at wide receiver and No. 34 in Florida.
Over at Rivals.com, he is No. 194 nationwide, No. 28 at his position and No. 35 in Florida.
On3 is presently the most bullish on Williams on a national scale, putting him at No. 55 overall, No. 10 at wide receiver and No. 12 in Florida.
Last but not least, the On3 Consensus slots Williams at No. 138 nationally, No. 24 at wide receiver and No. 28 in Florida.
We’ll obviously continue to track Williams’ recruitment moving forward.
