Syracuse Basketball: Latest national rankings of 4-star commit Judah Mintz
By Neil Adler
Syracuse basketball fans received a dose of stellar news at the end of March, when 2022 four-star guard Judah Mintz announced his verbal commitment to the ‘Cuse.
Despite a recruiting process where Big East Conference member DePaul picked up a lot of buzz for the 6-foot-3 Mintz from national analysts and other recruiting insiders, the senior stand-out at the powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., ultimately chose the Orange over DePaul, Wake Forest and N.C. State.
Mintz, who at one time was verbally committed to fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Pittsburgh, is a consensus four-star, top-80 prospect within the 2022 class. He also gives the ‘Cuse a total of six commits in the team’s 2022 cycle.
In this piece, I’m going to detail where Mintz is presently ranked according to the main recruiting services that I rely on for these sorts of articles. Those recruiting Web sites are ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals.com, On3 and two industry-generated services, the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Consensus.
Let’s see where Syracuse basketball commit Judah Mintz is situated in the 2022 class.
At the time of this writing, the On3 Consensus placed Mintz at No. 50 overall, No. 10 at combo guard and No. 2 in Virginia. The 247Sports Composite has him at No. 53 nationally, No. 9 at combo guard and No. 2 in Virginia.
These two sets of rankings directly above, for me personally, are the most telling, because they take into account individual ratings from a variety of recruiting services.
ESPN is the most bullish on Judah Mintz, putting him at No. 35 nationwide and No. 7 at shooting guard in this class. Rivals.com is next, having the new Syracuse basketball commit at No. 56 across the country and No. 12 at shooting guard.
The 247Sports recruiting service rates Mintz at No. 73 overall, No. 12 at combo guard and No. 2 in Virginia. Finally, On3 has him at No. 79 nationally, No. 13 at combo guard and No. 4 in Virginia.
So what does all of this mean? Well, for one, Judah Mintz hovers around the top 10 at his position in this cycle. That’s pretty darn awesome, from my perspective.
Secondly, his composite rankings of around No. 50 overall in the 2022 class would make him one of the highest-rated commits for the Syracuse basketball program in recent recruiting cycles.
