Recently after a spring football practice session, Head Coach Dino Babers discussed Syracuse football running back Sean Tucker. He seemed impressed that Sean not only is a good receiving option out of the backfield but also looked faster after having participated in track events in the off-season.

Shortly after seeing the media session, my YouTube recommended a video featuring music artists Tech N9ne featuring the Rock and hearing The Rock’s lyrics made me think this is Sean Tucker in a nutshell. The lyrics that got me go something like this.

“It’s about drive, it’s about power.

We stay hungry, we devour.

Put in the work, put in the hours and take what’s ours.”

Sean Tucker could have very easily rested on his laurels and gone into next season knowing he was amongst the leading rushers in the country. Instead, he took the opportunity to find ways to improve his game and possibly his NFL draft options.

Syracuse football star running back Sean Tucker is poised for a monster 2022 season.

It also made me think of Tucker’s tweets, which many including myself enjoy after a game. It made me think “this isn’t a guy just stroking his ego…this is a guy who is hungry and out to show the world he belongs.” This is a guy who before Covid happened, was buried on the depth chart and last season spent a portion of the season leading the NCAA in rushing yardage.

To me, Sean Tucker is that guy you want to cheer for. He’s not content unless he’s winning and he’s willing to put in the time and effort to make himself and his team better. He wants to go into the season, and possibly one day soon the NFL combine, and be successful. He’s determined to be the best and be successful for himself and his family’s future. He’s that guy that if you had to bet on, you’d feel safe relying on him.

I love Sean Tucker and I’m so grateful he’s a Syracuse football player. Everything about him is the personification of what you’d want representing the team and university you love. And when he tweets about being “pleased with his performance,” I hope he also knows that many Syracuse football fans like myself are pleased he chose the Orange to represent, and we’re all rooting for that hard work to pay off for Sean Tucker.
