Syracuse basketball picks up analyst prediction for 4-star Oak Hill guard
By Neil Adler
Syracuse basketball 2022 high-priority target Judah Mintz is planning to announce his collegiate destination on Thursday, and most of the buzz from national recruiting analysts continues to center on another one of Mintz’s suitors.
Most, but not all. I say this, because late Wednesday evening, 247Sports national analyst Travis Branham logged a projection for Mintz in the direction of the Orange. That’s encouraging.
Branham is one of the best in the business. His accuracy in both the 2022 class and all-time is really, really good. In all fairness, though, he did assign this prediction for the ‘Cuse as it relates to the 6-foot-3 Mintz a low confidence level of 1.
Mintz, a senior standout at the Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., is set to reveal his college choice on Thursday during the 4 pm game at the 2022 GEICO Nationals, according to a tweet from Josh Nichols of 24/7 High School Hoops.
In a separate recent tweet, Nichols wrote in part, “Experts have predicted Mintz to DePaul, but I’m hearing Syracuse is VERY MUCH an option.”
Syracuse basketball still seems to have a shot with four-star Judah Mintz.
The Oak Hill Academy is one of eight squads vying for a high-school national championship at this season’s GEICO Nationals, which will run from March 31 to April 2 at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Ft. Myers, Fla. The Oak Hill Academy, by the way, is the No. 5 seed in this prestigious tournament.
Getting back to Mintz, he is a consensus top-80 player in the 2022 cycle who is rated a top-10 guard in this class by some recruiting services and ranked as high as No. 35 across the country by ESPN.
A one-time Pittsburgh commit, Mintz has a final four of the Orange, DePaul, Wake Forest and N.C. State. He took official visits to all of those schools earlier this year.
Despite the new prediction for Mintz in the favor of Syracuse basketball, analyst projections, at least for now, continue to heavily center on Big East Conference member DePaul.
That includes three on the 247Sports Web site, two on Rivals.com and one on On3.com. Pro Insight director of scouting Andrew Slater also appears to like the Blue Demons’ chances here.
Should be a nerve-wracking next few hours for Syracuse basketball fans as we await a decision from Judah Mintz.
