After about a week off from games, Syracuse basketball returns to the court this Saturday afternoon for part two of its 2021-22 regular-season series with fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Boston College.
Fewer than two weeks ago, the Orange (13-12, 7-7 ) traveled to the Eagles and came away with a nine-point triumph on the road, 73-64. Now the ‘Cuse is set to welcome Boston College (9-15, 4-10), a long-time rival first in the Big East Conference and now in the ACC, to the Hill.
The Orange was riding a four-contest success streak, but that run came to an end last Saturday evening, when the ‘Cuse fell to red-hot Virginia Tech by 12 points, 71-59, in Blacksburg, Va.
As we all know by now, the Orange will be without starting center Jesse Edwards for the remainder of the 2021-22 term. Edwards, who had been having a break-out junior stanza, suffered a left-wrist fracture during the ‘Cuse encounter at Boston College on February 8.
Against the Hokies this past Saturday, sophomore center Frank Anselem entered the starting rotation in place of Edwards, and Anselem was a beast on the boards. However, the Orange offense fell flat in the team’s defeat at the hands of surging Virginia Tech.

Syracuse vs. Boston College on Saturday
When these two groups met up not too long ago, senior forward Cole Swider was absolutely fabulous in leading the ‘Cuse charge. He collected a team-high 21 points to go along with eight rebounds.
While the Orange offense stalled at Virginia Tech last weekend, with a week off to rest and work on things in some practice sessions, I believe that the ‘Cuse will fare better in the scoring department this coming Saturday afternoon.
Boston College is not usually a strong unit on offense, and the Eagles don’t shoot all that great from the field. While BC is pretty good on defense, I don’t foresee the Eagles being able to fully slow the Orange offense down. I’ll take the ‘Cuse to prevail in this one.
