Syracuse basketball has entered into the recruiting mix for one of the top guards in the 2022 cycle, and we’re going to take a look at some positive comments made about this stellar prospect by national analysts and scouts.

Orange coaches are in contact with 2022 four-star guard Judah Mintz, according to media reports. The 6-foot-3 Mintz, a senior at the powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., de-committed from Pittsburgh last November.

Other college teams reportedly vying for Mintz include DePaul, N.C. State and Wake Forest, among others. The ‘Cuse does have a solid five-member class in 2022, although the possibility of maybe adding Mintz to this cycle is enticing.

I’ve had a chance to watch Mintz a couple of times, and he certainly boasts an impressive skill-set. My biggest takeaway is that he seems to be an elite scorer who can suit up at both point guard and shooting guard.

Syracuse basketball is in the hunt for 2022 four-star guard Judah Mintz.

Experts say that Mintz is highly efficient at driving into the paint and scoring around the basket. To that end, in an evaluation of Mintz late last year, 247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer wrote in part, “Strength as a scorer is pressuring the rim. Is a resourceful finisher. Plays with power to the rim with his low center of gravity style. Utilizes fakes and pivots well. Has potential as a post-up threat.”

Meyer and other experts praise Mintz for his athleticism, quickness, court vision and footwork, among other attributes. In a recent article on madehoops.com, scouting analyst Tony McNiff said in part, “Mintz has solidified himself as one of the best scorers in all of high school basketball regardless of class. He can create shots for himself, get himself to the rim, or get his teammates involved when drawing help defense. He utilizes an ultra-quick first step and shifty handle to get to his spots on the floor to score.”

Depending on the recruiting service, Mintz is deemed either a top-10 combo guard or a top-10 shooting guard in the 2022 class. In its most recent update of player ratings for this cycle, ESPN placed Mintz at No. 35 across the country.

Analysts and scouts say that Mintz is a proficient rebounder, and experts laud him for being an excellent on-ball defender. They note that as Mintz continues to add strength, his overall game will reach new heights.
