Syracuse basketball got back into the win column earlier this week with a home triumph over Clemson, and now the Orange hits the road this Saturday afternoon for an Atlantic Coast Conference date with Duke.

The entire ‘Cuse roster, by and large, played quite well as the Orange (9-9, 3-4) pulled away from the Tigers in the second half this past Tuesday night on the Hill, resulting in a 13-point victory. That outcome gave the ‘Cuse a 2-1 mark during its recent three-contest home-stand, as the team knocked off Clemson and Pittsburgh, while suffering a five-point setback to Florida State.

The No. 6 Blue Devils (14-3, 4-2), though, present a much greater challenge for the Orange, particularly since this ACC encounter is on Duke’s own turf. That being said, the ‘Cuse has bested the Blue Devils a couple of times on the road since the Orange joined the ACC in the 2013-14 term.

At present, Duke is the only ACC squad ranked in the top-25 of both major polls. However, last Tuesday evening, the Blue Devils traveled to Florida State and fell by one point to the Seminoles in overtime.

Duke’s other two defeats came to Miami and Ohio State. The Blue Devils do own several impressive wins, against No. 1 Gonzaga and Kentucky, among others. After losing to FSU, I’m sure the Duke line-up is ready to pounce on the ‘Cuse. Hopefully, the Orange can keep things close versus the Blue Devils.

Syracuse at Duke Saturday

The Blue Devils, by no means, are invincible so far in the 2021-22 term. That being said, Duke and Miami are likely the top-two groups at this juncture in a somewhat watered-down ACC.

In taking a look at various statistical comparisons between the Blue Devils and the Orange, Duke unsurprisingly holds a lot of advantages, including in points scored, points allowed, rebounding, field-goal percentage, assists, blocks and steals.

As usual, the ‘Cuse is going to have to play a stellar all-around game if it seeks to stun the Blue Devils on the road. It’s happened before, so it certainly can happen again. But if I’m making a prediction here, I’ll go with Duke to prevail at home.
