Syracuse basketball 2023 four-star recruiting target Aden Holloway, one of the best point guards in his class, put up some big numbers in his prep team’s victory over another nationally ranked squad.

The 6-foot-1 Holloway, a junior at the powerhouse La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind., showed off his sharp-shooting talents by collecting a game-high 22 points in a 70-56 conquest of the Oak Hill Academy from Mouth of Wilson, Va., according to a box score provided via Twitter by the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (“NIBC”).

The NIBC, by the way, is a super league of sorts featuring eight independent basketball academies and prep-school teams, including the La Lumiere School and the Oak Hill Academy.

Another NIBC member is the Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah, and that squad’s line-up includes 2022 four-star wing Chris Bunch, who has signed his national letter of intent to play for the Orange.

Syracuse basketball four-star prospect Aden Holloway has proven stellar of late.

Holloway, who transferred to the La Lumiere School from the Covenant Day School in Matthews, N.C., following his sophomore campaign, logged 30 minutes of run versus the Oak Hill Academy.

He connected on 5-of-7 from the field, 4-of-4 from beyond the arc and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. He also hauled in four rebounds and dished out two assists.

Central New York native J.J. Starling, a 2022 four-star combo guard and former ‘Cuse recruiting target who has committed to Notre Dame, also plays for the La Lumiere School. In the win over the Oak Hill Academy, Starling tallied 12 points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal.

This match-up of two excellent high-school teams was televised on ESPN2, and I watched most of the game. I was really impressed by Holloway.

He boasts great ball-handling skills and court vision. The consensus top-80 prospect in the 2023 cycle is crafty and obviously can knock down shots with precision.

In the latest top-20 national rankings from MaxPreps of independent basketball academies and prep squads, the La Lumiere School checked in at No. 6, while the Oak Hill Academy was No. 7.

According to recruiting services, Syracuse basketball coaches offered a scholarship to Holloway back in the summer of 2019. His other offers include from Wichita State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and Winthrop, per media reports and recruiting Web sites.

Some recruiting services rate Holloway as a top-10 point guard and a top-50 overall prospect in this cycle, and I totally agree with that. He’s got an admirable skill-set, and I hope that the Orange emerges as a significant contender for Holloway.
