Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Chris Bunch, a four-star wing, will collide with some of the country’s premier prep-school squads over the next few days.
The 6-foot-7 Bunch, a top-60 prospect in his cycle according to 247Sports, is a senior at the powerhouse Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah.
The Wasatch Academy is a member of the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (“NIBC”), a super league of sorts that features independent prep teams and basketball academies.
From January 6 until January 8, the Wasatch Academy will suit up in three games against fellow NIBC groups at the La Porte Civic Auditorium in La Porte, Ind.
Let’s see which schools will square off against Syracuse basketball commit Chris Bunch.
According to a schedule provided by the NIBC’s Twitter account, on January 6, the Wasatch Academy will face the Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., with ESPNU providing television coverage.
On January 7, the Wasatch Academy will go toe to toe with the Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan. ESPN+ will provide live video streaming.
Finally, on January 8, Bunch and his teammates will compete versus the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. ESPN+ will again provide live video streaming.
In the latest top-20 national rankings from MaxPreps, the Sunrise Christian Academy is No. 1 across the nation, the IMG Academy is No. 2, the Oak Hill Academy is No. 7 and the Wasatch Academy is No. 13.
According to MaxPreps, the Wasatch Academy presently has an overall record of 10-4, and this trio of upcoming games will prove an extremely daunting test for Bunch and his colleagues.
The IMG Academy, by the way, features 2022 five-star power forward Jarace Walker, who held a Syracuse basketball offer but has committed to Houston.
The IMG Academy’s post-grad team, as many ‘Cuse fans know, includes Orange 2022 four-star commits Justin Taylor, a shooting guard, and Quadir Copeland, a point guard.
Taylor, Copeland and Bunch are part of a strong 2022 recruiting cycle for Syracuse basketball that also includes three-star power forward/center Peter Carey from the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon, Mass., and three-star power forward Maliq Brown out of the Blue Ridge School in St. George, Va.
Bunch picked the ‘Cuse over Rutgers and Washington in October and has signed his national letter of intent to play for Syracuse basketball. He is a consensus top-100 prospect in 2022.
