Syracuse basketball appears to be a legit contender for 2023 four-star shooting guard Reid Ducharme, a sharp-shooting prospect who is rated in the top-100 overall by many recruiting services.
We noted in a column not too long ago that the Orange is in regular communication with the 6-foot-6 Ducharme, which is of course encouraging to hear.
In another dose of positive news, a recent article on Ducharme notes that he is looking at a possible visit to the ‘Cuse. Ducharme is a junior at the powerhouse Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., a prep-school squad that has sent numerous players to the Hill in recent years.
Orange coaches offered Ducharme this past August at the team’s annual Elite Camp. Dushawn London, a terrific national analyst at 247Sports, writes in a piece that Ducharme “is looking to set up a visit to Syracuse in the near future.”
Syracuse basketball seems to be in solid shape with four-star guard Reid Ducharme.
Ducharme’s recruitment could have a way to go, although he already has an impressive list of suitors. He’s received offers from college teams including Connecticut, Providence, Stanford, Iowa, UMass, DePaul, Harvard and Brown.
On that topic, London says that Ducharme is hearing consistently from, besides the ‘Cuse, squads such as Penn State, Providence, Loyola Chicago, Marquette, Brown and Harvard.
Michigan State, a Big Ten Conference heavyweight that often does well on the recruiting trail, is showing interest in Ducharme as well, according to London.
"As far as Syracuse basketball is concerned, Ducharme frequently talks to assistant coach Gerry McNamara. Ducharme says of the Orange, “I watch them a lot and I like how they play. I feel like they have an offensive style with a lot of shooters and can run in a system, play in a system but at the same time get their own bucket and set up their teammates.”"
National analysts say that Ducharme has good size for his position. He plays with confidence and toughness, and Ducharme boasts a high basketball IQ. Additionally, he is athletic, can stroke it at a high clip from the perimeter, and has great defensive instincts.
When I penned this column, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite had Ducharme rated at No. 87 across the country in the 2023 cycle. He’s also a top-20 shooting guard on a national scale.
