Syracuse basketball is showing interest in a talented and underrated guard from the 2023 recruiting cycle who plays prep-school ball in Massachusetts, according to a report.
Per a recent tweet from Pro Insight director of scouting Andrew Slater, Kayvaun Mulready has earned a handful of scholarship offers at this juncture, along with interest from numerous squads, including the Orange.
The 6-foot-4 Mulready, a junior at Worcester Academy in Worcester, Mass., apparently can suit up at either point guard or shooting guard. With his height and length, I imagine he would prove a strong fit at the top of the ‘Cuse 2-3 zone.

To date, according to Slater’s tweet, Mulready’s Twitter page and recruiting services, Mulready holds offers from Rick Pitino-led Iona, Northwestern, Massachusetts and Siena.
Slater reports that Mulready is also receiving interest from the Orange, Penn State, George Washington and Fairfield.
Syracuse basketball is targeting other 2023 point guards as well.
The ‘Cuse coaching staff has offered scholarships to multiple point guards and combo guards within the 2023 class. This past August, at the Orange’s annual Elite Camp, Syracuse basketball coaches offered five-star point guard D.J. Wagner.
The 6-foot-3 Wagner, a junior who headlines the stand-out team at Camden High School in Camden, N.J., is presently the consensus No. 1 player in the 2023 cycle.
Additionally, more than two years ago, Orange coaches reportedly offered four-star point guard Aden Holloway. Some recruiting services rank the 6-foot-1 Holloway as a top-50 overall prospect in the 2023 class.
Last season, Holloway competed for the Covenant Day School in Matthews, N.C. But during his junior term, Holloway is suiting up for the powerhouse La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind.
Former Syracuse basketball 2022 high-priority target J.J. Starling, a Central New York native and a four-star combo guard who has committed to Notre Dame, also plays for the La Lumiere School.
Switching back to Mulready, he is a member of the Albany City Rocks on the grassroots basketball circuit, an excellent AAU team that has sent numerous of its alum to the Hill over the years.
According to several national recruiting analysts and scouts, Mulready performed quite well at the 2021 National Prep Showcase, which was recently held at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Conn.
While I’m not seeing national ratings for Mulready at this juncture, I’d expect that to change at some point. He is ranked the No. 10 player in Massachusetts and the No. 20 prospect in New England within the 2023 cycle, per his bio on the New England Recruiting Report’s Web site.
