Syracuse Basketball: 4-star, 5-star targets put forth monster games in wins
By Neil Adler
Two Syracuse basketball recruiting targets in the 2023 cycle recently had tremendous showings in helping their prep schools to victories.
The 2021-22 campaign is just getting underway for some prep squads, as well as traditional public high schools, and these Orange prospects poured it on against their opponents.
Five-star wing Elijah Fisher from Canada, a consensus top-20 player in this class, went for 26 points at the recently held Double Trouble Invitational in the Atlanta area, according to media reports.
Per reports, the 6-foot-7 Fisher was named the game’s MVP as his team, the Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto, Ontario, defeated the Vertical Academy out of Charlotte, N.C., by a final count of 69-62.

Another Syracuse basketball target boasted a double-double in his squad’s success.
Big man Papa Kante, a four-star, top-100 prospect in the 2023 cycle, was really impressive in his team’s recent conquest.
The 6-foot-10 power forward/center tallied 21 points, 21 rebounds and six blocks as South Kent School in South Kent, Conn., beat the Springfield Commonwealth Academy from Springfield, Mass., by a margin of 76-65, according to tweets from the South Kent School.
Let’s check on the latest in each Orange target’s recruitment. The ‘Cuse coaching staff offered Kante at the team’s annual Elite Camp this past August.
Some of his more recent offers have arrived from the likes of Tennessee, Kansas, Providence, Georgetown and Miami. Other college teams to have offered Kante include Pittsburgh, Georgia, Rutgers, TCU, UMass, East Carolina, Bryant and Siena.
Switching over to Fisher, he is regarded by recruiting analysts as one of the best prospects within the 2023 class. Syracuse basketball coaches offered him back in the summer of 2020.
When 247Sports recently updated its national rankings for 2023, Fisher dropped a bit, although most recruiting services still rate him as a five-star player.
Besides the ‘Cuse, Fisher has numerous other scholarship offers, from squads such as Kentucky, Kansas, 2021 national champion Baylor, Florida State, Arizona, Florida, Oregon, Memphis, Seton Hall, West Virginia and Southern California.
In recent years, Syracuse basketball has done well on the recruiting trail in attracting Canadian prospects to the Hill. I haven’t seen a lot of interviews given by Fisher of late, and there are no analyst predictions for him at this juncture.
As a result, it’s tough to gauge whether the Orange is a significant contender for him. We’ll of course continue to monitor the recruiting processes of both Fisher and Kante.
