By Neil Adler
New Syracuse basketball 2022 four-star commit Chris Bunch is a confident, hard-working prospect who appears to thrive on the offensive end of the floor, while he continues to work on his all-around game.
National recruiting analysts and scouts say that the athletic 6-foot-7 Bunch is a sharp-shooter from deep, passes and rebounds well, and he will continue to enhance his defensive skill-set while getting stronger.
As the Orange gets set to soon begin its 2021-22 campaign, the buzz on the Hill is that the ‘Cuse should have a loaded roaster as it pertains to long-range shooting.
When Bunch sets foot on the Orange campus to embark on his own Syracuse basketball career, I definitely have a sense that he will continue this theme of stellar shooting from beyond the arc.
Syracuse basketball four-star commit Chris Bunch dishes on his game.
Bunch, a top-60 prospect in his cycle per 247Sports, is a senior at the powerhouse Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. He recently picked the ‘Cuse over Mike Hopkins-led Washington and Rutgers, after receiving more than 20 high-major scholarship offers throughout his recruitment.
In a handful of interviews with analysts and journalists, Bunch provided a lot of insights into how he views himself fitting into the Orange program.
"To that end, he said in part to Mike Waters of Syracuse.com, “What the (Orange) coaches have told me has always been the same – come in and be a scorer and be athletic in the zone.”"
Bunch definitely emphasizes that he has a scorers’ mentality and can knock down shots with proficiency, however, he also prides himself in being an excellent passer and doing whatever possible to make his teammates better.
In several interviews, Bunch brought up that it’s important for him to be confident and keep on working hard, while always having a great attitude.
Whether he is a starter or comes off the bench, he hopes to make a positive impact on the ‘Cuse however he can. And, of course, drain a lot of 3-pointers during his tenure in Central New York.
"“I just want the Syracuse fans to know that I’ll be coming in and there will be a lot of threes going in,” Bunch said in an interview with Pro Insight."
