Syracuse basketball 2022 high-priority target Chris Bunch, a four-star wing, is aiming to announce his college decision in the coming weeks.

The Orange, Mike Hopkins-led Washington and Rutgers are in his top three. I said in a recent column why I think that the 6-foot-7 Bunch is going to choose the ‘Cuse, but we’ll have to see how this all plays out.

For his senior year, Bunch transferred from De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif., to the powerhouse Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah.

The Wasatch Academy roster also features a name that some Orange fans will recognize. Roddy Gayle Jr., a 2022 four-star shooting guard, suits up for this prep-school team.

Gayle, who previously played for Lewiston-Porter High School in Youngstown, N.Y., had the ‘Cuse in his top six before committing to Ohio State.

Syracuse basketball four-star target Chris Bunch is poised for a special senior stanza.

As I’ve noted since word broke a while back that Bunch would transfer to the Wasatch Academy, this prep-school group is expected to be among the nation’s elite during the 2021-22 campaign.

I also believe that Bunch will perform at a high level for the Wasatch Academy, and that should lead to further national ratings’ bumps for him.

He’s already a top-60 prospect across the country in his cycle, according to 247Sports, and I could foresee Bunch climbing into the top-50 overall.

Bunch and his Wasatch Academy teammates recently suited up in the 2021 Great Western Classic, which was held in the Salt Lake City area in Utah, according to media reports.

In the Wasatch Academy’s first contest at the Great Western Classic, Bunch collected an impressive 29 points, according to tweets from scouting service Pro Insight.

Pro Insight also said in one of its tweets that Bunch “projects as someone who’ll make a day-one impact at the next level.” The professionals at Pro Insight know their stuff, so their commentary on Bunch is quite encouraging.

Should he select Syracuse basketball, Bunch will provide a huge boost to the Orange’s already talented 2022 class. We’ll of course continue to monitor his recruitment and how he’s playing at the Wasatch Academy.
