Syracuse Football: My pep talk for the Orange at home versus Rutgers
By Chuck Fiello
Our football guru gives his pep talk to the Syracuse football team ahead of its home date with Rutgers.
We are 1-0, great job Syracuse football!
Last week, we went to their field, handled our business and left with a win. That’s one win down. We showed everyone including ourselves that we can win. We told everyone that last year was last year and this is a new team and a new season and this is the first step to proving that. Today we take our next step to proving to everyone we are who we say we are. Felt good to win right?
Now let’s take that feeling and carry ourselves with confidence and defend our house. When I say confidence, I don’t mean take our opponent lightly…I mean go out and believe in yourself to make the plays and win. Finally, after a year and a half, we get to defend our home field in front of our fans. We get to show them who we are. We get to show the country who we are and that this is our house.
Now our opponent is coming in here today looking to beat us and make a statement. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be someone’s stepping stone to success…I want us to take the step toward building our own success and the next step is winning this game.
I’m telling you right now that if you put forth your best effort into every play, I believe we will win. I believe in you! I believe in us! I believe we can win this game and any game if we work together as a family and execute the plays we’ve practiced. I believe we can be a success and achieve all of our goals and dreams together and that starts out there on that field today.
Let me end with this; what statement do you want to make today? What do you want to tell the world about yourself and our family? What do you want your legacy to be here and in the eyes of those watching today? Are you prepared to define your legacy or are you ready for them to come in here and use you to define theirs? If you want to win, show me…show us…show the world…show out!
Are you ready? No, I mean it…ARE…YOU…READY??? Then let’s go defend our house in front of our fans and let’s show out!
