As Syracuse basketball 2023 five-star target G.G. Jackson eyes a possible move into the top-15 or even the top-10 overall within his class, the scholarship offer list for the 6-foot-8 power forward continues to add impressive new suitors.
According to Jackson’s own Twitter page as well as recruiting services, some of the more recent offers doled out to him include from teams such as blue-blood Kansas, Atlantic Coast Conference star Virginia and Florida State, which has also proven one of the best squads within the ACC in recent years.
But there’s plenty more to discuss here. The ACC’s Duke and North Carolina, both blue-blood groups in their own right, recently offered Jackson. So did Florida out of the Southeastern Conference.
Ever since mid-June, when college coaches could begin communicating directly with high-school prospects in the 2023 cycle, Jackson’s recruitment has blown up.
Syracuse basketball faces an uphill climb to secure five-star G.G. Jackson.
We’ve pointed out on numerous occasions that the Orange was the first college team to offer a scholarship to Jackson, with that offer coming back in August of 2020.
I remain hopeful that since the ‘Cuse got in early on with him, that fact could prove helpful as Jackson’s recruiting process carries onward on a national scale.
Then again, besides the offers already mentioned, Jackson boasts a bunch of other offers, including from Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, N.C. State, Maryland, Georgetown, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh and Boston College.
All told, I’m counting around 20 offers to date for Jackson, if not more. Without question, he’s one of the hottest prospects around the country in his class.
Jackson is about to enter his junior year, and he attends Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C. In recent AAU events with the Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Team Cp3, he has performed quite well, and there have been several live periods of late where college coaches were able to watch Jackson and other high-school players in person.
The 247Sports Composite ranks him as a five-star prospect, and most recruiting services currently have Jackson in the top-20 to top-30 nationwide.
But as Rivals.com basketball recruiting director Rob Cassidy recently wrote in an article, Jackson is one 2023 player who recently has “made a case to move up aggressively.”
