Syracuse Basketball: 2022 big-man target new prep home, offers galore
By Neil Adler
Earlier this month, Syracuse basketball got into the recruiting mix for 2022 big man Dominick Barlow, whose stock has absolutely skyrocketed over the summer.
The 6-foot-9 power forward performed exceptionally well at the recently held 2021 Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C., and some national recruiting analysts are saying that Barlow is primed to enter the 2022 ratings in a big-time way.
Barlow, who runs on the AAU circuit with the New York City-based NY Renaissance, is undeniably emerging on a national scale. His list of scholarship offers is pushing past 20 and should continue to grow.
The Orange offered Barlow on August 5, according to his social-media accounts. In reviewing his Instagram and Twitter pages, other recent offers have arrived for Barlow from teams such as Iowa, Western Kentucky, St. John’s, Florida, South Carolina and Iona.
Additional offers have come in from the likes of Kansas, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Southern California, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Providence, Nebraska, DePaul and Xavier.
Syracuse basketball faces heated competition for 2022 power forward Dominick Barlow.
Per a recent tweet from college basketball insider Adam Zagoria, Barlow will play this coming season at the Bridgton Academy, a prep school in Bridgton, Maine. He previously suited up for Dumont High School in Dumont, N.J.
For now, most of the recruiting services don’t include Barlow in their national rankings for the 2022 class, but that is going to change. He is a three-star prospect, No. 149 overall and the No. 27 power forward, according to 247Sports.
However, I’ve seen numerous comments of late from national analysts, recruiting insiders and NCAA-approved scouts on Twitter that suggest Barlow will end up as a top-50 player in his cycle when all is said and done.
Justin Young of HoopSeen.com, for example, recently tweeted out that Barlow “sure has the tools of a top 40 national player.”
Jonathan Givony, an NBA Draft analyst for ESPN, noted in a tweet that he watched Barlow compete at the recently held 2021 Slam Summer Classic in New York City.
"Givony said of the Orange 2022 target, “Plays with great energy and has a lot of skill to his game with his polished footwork, ability to find teammates and terrific touch. Has really emerged over the spring and summer.”"
There have been rumblings on social media and in chat rooms that Barlow could end up taking a visit to the Hill, and I sincerely hope that happens.
