When former Syracuse basketball players and other stars recently suited up for Boeheim’s Army and won The Basketball Tournament (“TBT”) championship, Orange head coach Jim Boeheim was interviewed at half-time of the final game.
In this interview with an ESPN reporter, he was asked how he was feeling, and Boeheim responded, “never better.” So Boeheim is going to roam the sidelines on the Hill forever, right?
I’m kidding, although not entirely. Boeheim looks great. He appears in terrific health. And even though his sons, Buddy and Jimmy Boeheim, will soon wrap up their careers with the ‘Cuse, it doesn’t seem that Jim Boeheim has any plans to call it quits anytime soon.
This past spring, Boeheim & Co. wrapped up a solid season in which the ‘Cuse finished 18-10, it was ranked in one of the major polls, and the squad made a nice run to the Sweet 16.
JB at the half says he's feeling "never better." He's coaching until 90, right?

Plus, as we’ve noted on many occasions of late, the Orange has the makings of a stellar 2022 recruiting cycle, and the ‘Cuse is also in pursuit of numerous top-flight prospects in the 2023 class.
The future, at least from my perspective, is bright for Orange hoops. So why should Boeheim ride off into the sunset after this coming season, or other near-term ones?
Syracuse basketball boss Jim Boeheim is feeling good these days.
I love Boeheim, but others within the ‘Cuse fan base think his time should be up sooner rather than later. That being said, with more than 1,000 career wins (whatever, NCAA), a national title, five Final Fours and 20 journeys to the Sweet 16, Boeheim has earned the right to retire on his schedule, not ours.
Certainly, there is a changing of the head-coaching guard within the Atlantic Coast Conference, given developments at Duke and North Carolina pertaining to their respective legendary head coaches.
And who knows what the ACC will totally look like down the road, given all the rumors about further conference realignment amid Oklahoma and Texas heading to the Southeastern Conference.
Not too long ago, Boeheim said in an interview with college basketball insider Adam Zagoria on forbes.com that he may be able to coach a few more years, until he’s around 80.
But my “well-placed” sources within Boeheim’s inner circle tell me that Boeheim is fully committed to the diet put forth by NFL star Tom Brady.
No more chicken parmigiana for Boeheim from his favorite Italian restaurants in Central New York and elsewhere. No more tasty eats from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.
Brady is going to play quarterback in the pros until he’s 60. I want Boeheim to coach until he’s 90. He’ll become the all-time wins leader in Division I men’s basketball history, and hopefully Boeheim will land a couple of additional NCAA championships.
And all of those additional press conferences with media members. Oh, those entertaining pressers. I never want them to end.
