Not too long ago, we detailed how one national recruiting analyst has logged a prediction in favor of LSU out of the Southeastern Conference for Syracuse basketball 2022 four-star target Chance Westry.
That analyst, Jamie Shaw of Rivals.com, made his projection on July 6. Now a second national analyst on Rivals.com has given his own thoughts on the recruitment of the 6-foot-5 Westry, an elite guard and consensus top-45 prospect in his cycle.
In a recent article, Rivals.com basketball recruiting director Rob Cassidy provided some insights into how he thinks that Westry performed at the recently held 2021 Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C.
By and large, Westry put forth some nice performances at the Peach Jam, although he did prove a tad inconsistent at times, according to Cassidy and other national analysts.
Syracuse basketball appears still in contention for four-star Chance Westry.
Westry will spend his senior year at Hillcrest Prep in Gilbert, Ariz., and he runs on the AAU circuit with an excellent team, the New York City-based NY Renaissance.
Regarding his recruiting process, Cassidy had this to say in his piece. “Syracuse and Auburn seem to be strong players as things stand. Westry also visited LSU in June.”
For context, Westry has actually taken official visits to the Hill, along with to the SEC’s Auburn, the Big Ten Conference’s Nebraska and LSU. There are also rumblings of a possible professional deal for Westry.
The ‘Cuse coaching staff has pursued Westry for a long while, having offered him a scholarship about two years ago. However, the talk on social media and in chat rooms of late as far as Syracuse basketball is concerned seems to focus less on Westry and more on two other 2022 four-star guards in Quadir Copeland and Central New York native J.J. Starling.
This is all speculation, of course, so we’ll have to see how everything plays out with this trio of stellar 2022 guards. A lot of Orange fans think that Syracuse basketball is a long-shot for Westry, but I’m not there quite yet.
Westry boasts a bunch of other high-major offers, from teams such as Michigan, Virginia, Connecticut, Louisville, Memphis, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Miami, Florida, Maryland, Southern California, Arkansas, Providence, St. John’s, VCU, Georgia and Temple.
