Syracuse basketball is looking to secure one of the best 2022 classes in the country, and the Orange has a lot of nice momentum in that regard.

However, if we look further out, the ‘Cuse absolutely could be primed for a sensational 2023 class as well. In all fairness, the Orange has yet to secure a 2023 commit, and high-school prospects in this cycle have a long way to go in their recruitments.

Let’s remember that 2023 players just finished their sophomore years of high school. In mid-June, college coaches could begin directly communicating with prospects in this class.

Since that occurred, some collegiate teams have doled out many scholarship offers to 2023 players. The ‘Cuse coaching staff, at least so far, has been more reserved in its approach.

Syracuse basketball coaches did recently dole out an offer to four-star Justin Edwards, a stellar 6-foot-7 forward out of the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia. Edwards is likely on his way to five-star status, and Rivals.com places him in the top-25 nationally.

Another recent offer went out to 6-foot-4, five-star combo guard Simeon Wilcher, a top-15 prospect out of Roselle Catholic High School in Roselle, N.J., according to a tweet from college basketball insider Adam Zagoria.

Syracuse basketball has offered a handful of top-flight 2023 targets.

Last summer, the Orange offered five-star Elijah Fisher, a 6-foot-7 wing out of the Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto, Ontario. Fisher is widely considered a top-five prospect in this class and could contend for the No. 1 overall spot.

Speaking of that, Syracuse basketball has shown interest in 6-foot-3 five-star point guard D.J. Wagner, the top-ranked 2023 player who attends Camden High School in Camden, N.J.

His teammate at Camden High School, four-star center Aaron Bradshaw, has also heard from the Orange. The 7-foot Bradshaw is a top-20 prospect, per Rivals.com.

About a year ago, the ‘Cuse was the first to offer G.G. Jackson, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C. He recently became a five-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Other 2023 players whom Syracuse basketball has offered include four-star, top-25 Matas Buzelis, a 6-foot-8 wing from the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., and four-star Gavin Griffiths, a 6-foot-7 wing from the Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, Conn.

Additionally, there is 6-foot-1 four-star point guard Aden Holloway out of the La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind., who is a top-40 player, as well as four-star Blue Cain, a 6-foot-4 guard who attends Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tenn. Recruiting services have said that Holloway and Cain hold Orange offers.

Obviously, Syracuse basketball isn’t going to pick up all of these 2023 players. However, if the ‘Cuse can secure a couple of them, then the 2023 cycle should prove sweet for the Orange.
