Syracuse basketball has offered a scholarship to another elite high-school player in the 2023 class.

According to a tweet from college basketball insider Adam Zagoria, the Orange has offered five-star combo guard Simeon Wilcher, who is a sophomore at Roselle Catholic High School in Roselle, N.J.

The 6-foot-4 Wilcher, who can suit up at point guard and shooting guard, runs on the AAU circuit with the New York City-based NY Renaissance. Other members of this AAU team include Syracuse basketball 2022 prospects Kyle Filipowski, Chance Westry and Denver Anglin.

The Orange’s offer to Wilcher comes not long after the ‘Cuse pledged a scholarship offer to another top-flight 2023 player, Justin Edwards.

The 6-foot-7 Edwards is a four-star forward who attends the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia and competes in AAU competitions with the Philadelphia-based Team Final.

Syracuse basketball has entered the recruiting fray for top-10 prospect Simeon Wilcher.

In reviewing Wilcher’s bio on recruiting Web sites, he already holds a bunch of impressive offers, from teams such as Ohio State, Oregon, Iowa, Kansas, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, St. John’s, Auburn, Illinois, Miami, UCLA, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State and Morgan State.

Wilcher recently penned a blog post that appeared on the Sports Illustrated Web site, and he noted that other squads showing interest in him include Duke, Kentucky, Mike Hopkins-led Washington and Memphis.

The primary recruiting services rate Wilcher as five stars and a top-15 overall prospect in his class. The 247Sports recruiting service places Wilcher at No. 7 nationally, No. 2 at combo guard and No. 2 in New Jersey.

The 247Sports Composite, meanwhile, has him at No. 11 overall, the No. 2 combo guard and the No. 3 prospect in New Jersey. ESPN puts Wilcher at No. 12 across the country, followed by Rivals.com at No. 13.

Given that Wilcher plays for an AAU team in New York and a high-school squad in New Jersey, I’m not surprised at all that the ‘Cuse has offered him.

He’s a tremendous talent. The competition is intense, and that intensity will only increase as more and more big-time teams offer Wilcher.

Syracuse basketball hasn’t doled out a ton of offers in the 2023 cycle, but the ones that it has are to some of the best players in the country. I’m talking about four- and five-star prospects ranked in the top-50 overall, or higher.
