Syracuse Basketball: Duke predictions pouring in for priority 4-star target
By Neil Adler
The recruiting world is often fluid and rapidly changing, but the buzz for Syracuse basketball 2022 high-priority target Kyle Filipowski is certainly trending toward one team, and it’s not the Orange.
It is, however, another Atlantic Coast Conference squad. Duke, that blue-blood program which usually wins these recruiting wars with the ‘Cuse and other high-major groups, is getting a ton of projections from national analysts and other recruiting insiders for the 6-foot-10 power forward.
The elite 2022 big man has seen his national rankings skyrocket of late from multiple recruiting services, and his offer list is loaded with big-time names.
The four-star Filipowski, who is likely headed toward five-star status, has around 30 offers, from teams such as Syracuse basketball, Duke, Michigan, North Carolina, Connecticut, Iowa, Ohio State, Indiana and many others.
His scholarship offers from Duke, UNC and Michigan, it’s worth pointing out, are relatively new. And clearly, the Blue Devils offer is a massive one.
Syracuse basketball faces heated competition for four-star big man Kyle Filipowski.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Duke had six predictions for Filipowski from recruiting insiders on the 247Sports Web site, including from well-respected 247Sports national analyst Travis Branham. Five of those six projections possess a high confidence.
On Rivals.com, national analyst Jamie Shaw has also made a prediction for Filipowski in the direction of the Blue Devils. These developments don’t guarantee that Filipowski will ultimately pick Duke, however, it’s also not a super great sign for the Orange’s chances, either.
In recent weeks, Filipowski has taken a number of official visits, including to the Hill as well as the Blue Devils, Indiana, Ohio State and Iowa.
By all accounts, his trip to Central New York went well, and ‘Cuse 2022 four-star commit Justin Taylor has said that he is trying to recruit Filipowski to join him in this Syracuse basketball cycle.
When several recruiting Web sites recently updated their national ratings for the 2022 class, Filipowski made some huge gains. He is now No. 20 via ESPN and right on the verge of five stars there.
The industry-generated 247Sports Composite has Filipowski at No. 33 overall, followed by 247Sports at No. 40 and Rivals.com at No. 48.
He is one of the premier big men in the 2022 cycle, and I sincerely hope that the Orange remains in the mix for Filipowski.
