Syracuse basketball 2023 prospect Gavin Griffiths was flying under the radar on a national scale within his class, but he’s not any longer.

In mid-June, college coaches were able to start making direct contact with 2023 high-school players, and that has led to a bunch of new offers for Griffiths, who has been shining on the AAU circuit, according to several national analysts.

He’s already a top-75 prospect in the 2023 cycle according to one of the main recruiting services, and I believe that the talented 6-foot-7 wing is poised to climb even higher in the national rankings in the future.

The Orange coaching staff had seen the promise and potential of Griffiths early on, offering him a scholarship last October before things started to really heat up in his recruitment.

Hopefully, that the ‘Cuse began recruiting him in the early stages of his recruiting process will go a long way toward the Orange being a serious contender for Griffiths.

Syracuse basketball is seeing heightened competition for 2023 four-star Gavin Griffiths.

When Rivals.com recently updated its national rankings for the 2023 class, Griffiths went from being unranked to four stars and No. 71 overall in this cycle.

From my perspective, Griffiths should ultimately be deemed a top-100 prospect in his class by all of the primary recruiting services, and I could see him reaching the top 50.

Griffiths, by the way, is a sophomore who attends the Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, Conn., and he suits up for the Boston-based Expressions Elite Basketball in AAU events.

Of late, I’ve read comments from multiple analysts that speak to Griffiths performing at a high level in recent AAU competitions and other events. It’s no wonder that his recruitment has taken off.

Prior to mid-June, Griffiths held offers from a couple of teams, including the Orange, UMass and Siena. Then an offer from Big Ten Conference member Rutgers arrived.

Once college coaches could directly communicate with Griffiths and his 2023 peers, he landed multiple new offers, from teams such as Big Ten participants Iowa and Maryland, Dayton, Bryant and Fairfield. Trust me, the new offers won’t stop there for Griffiths.

In interviews, Griffiths has spoken positively of Syracuse basketball, and he would fit in nicely within the ‘Cuse system. Griffiths has terrific height and length for his position, he’s athletic and he shoots well from the perimeter.

Additionally, analysts have said that Griffiths is a versatile scorer who can make buckets in a variety of ways. He’s a confident guy who plays hard, hustles and could thrive in the Orange’s 2-3 zone defense.

There’s a lot to like about Griffiths’s game, and we’ll continue to monitor his expanding recruitment.
