Now that college coaches can initiate direct communication with high-school prospects in the 2023 class, the floodgates are opening up for Syracuse basketball four-star target G.G. Jackson.
A top-30 player in this cycle, according to several recruiting services, Jackson is a 6-foot-8 power forward and a sophomore at Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C.
I’ve read several comments from national recruiting analysts of late, including from 247Sports’ Travis Branham, that speak to Jackson being regarded as one of the top big men throughout the country in the 2023 class.
On Tuesday, as college coaches could reach out to 2023 players, Jackson certainly attracted a ton of recruiting activity. In perusing his Twitter page, I noticed a bunch of tweets and retweets regarding new scholarship offers to Jackson, as well as high-level interest from other teams.

The new offers include from Tennessee, which has crushed it on the recruiting trail of late, fellow Southeastern Conference member LSU, Atlantic Coast Conference participant N.C. State, Maryland out of the Big Ten Conference, and the College of Charleston.
What’s more, Rivals.com national analyst Jamie Shaw said in a tweet that ACC members and blue-blood schools Duke and North Carolina have reached out to Jackson.
Ugh. We’ve documented the Tar Heels interest before, but I hadn’t seen anything about the Blue Devils until now. That certainly will make things tougher if Orange coaches hope to land Jackson.
Texas Tech out of the Big 12 Conference, the 2019 NCAA Tournament runner-up, has also reportedly shown strong interest in Jackson, according to a recent article by Shaw.
The ‘Cuse coaching staff got in early on with Jackson. In fact, Jackson’s first offer from a college team came from Syracuse basketball, with that occurring last August.
Other previous offers that Jackson has obtained include from Georgetown, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Boston College and High Point.
At this juncture, recruiting Web sites rate Jackson as a top-10 power forward in his class. He is No. 26 nationally on Rivals.com, followed by No. 30 at the 247Sports Composite and No. 34 via 247Sports.
Jackson is also the No. 1 high-school player in the state of South Carolina for the 2023 cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite and 247Sports. His offer list is only going to keep on growing and growing.
