Syracuse basketball 2022 four-star target Chris Bunch may have flown a tad under the radar on the national landscape up until now, but that is potentially about to change.
The 6-foot-7 wing, a junior at De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif., is a top-100 player according to some recruiting services. So he’s already a strong high-school prospect.
But some recent comments that I’ve read from analysts and other recruiting insiders suggest that Bunch is on the verge of really blowing up within the 2022 cycle.
As we detailed in a recent column, per various media reports, Bunch is scheduled to take an official visit to the Hill on June 28-30. He holds a range of high-major scholarship offers, although 247Sports national basketball director Eric Bossi recently said that the Orange, Florida State, Oregon, Seton Hall and USC are recruiting him the hardest, at least for now.
Bunch recently participated in the prestigious 2021 Pangos All-American Camp, held in Las Vegas, and it seems that he has performed quite well.
Syracuse basketball 2022 four-star prospect Chris Bunch should see his stock soar.
Bossi recently discussed a couple of high-school players whom he believes could see their national rankings jump if they play in front of college coaches in the near future like they did at the 2021 Pangos All-American Camp.
Included in Bossi’s piece is Bunch, who competes for the Oklahoma-based Team Griffin Basketball on the AAU circuit. Might Bunch evolve into a top-50 prospect, or higher, within the 2022 class? Perhaps.
"Bossi, a well-respected national analyst, said in part about Bunch, “he’s a long and bouncy 6-foot-6 three man with plenty of range on his shot. A four-star who is already ranked in the top 100, he’s not exactly an unknown and has a load of high major offers. But, there’s a difference between giving somebody an offer and making them a priority. He’s about to be a priority.”"
Bunch already possesses more than two-dozen offers. In addition to the squads noted above, other offers have arrived from the likes of Arkansas, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Maryland, Rutgers, Creighton, Iowa State, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Massachusetts.
The ‘Cuse coaching staff offered Bunch in April of 2020, and it’s encouraging that Syracuse basketball has an official visit lined up with him.
