Syracuse basketball 2023 prospect Blue Cain likely has a way to go with his recruiting process, but the elite bucket-getter is primed to jump into the national rankings for his class in the near future.
Although not currently rated by some of the primary recruiting services within the 2023 cycle, I fully expect that to change for Cain as these recruiting Web sites update their national rankings.
Cain, a guard, had an outstanding sophomore season at Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tenn., and he’s also faring quite well to date on the AAU circuit with the Knoxville-based B. Maze Elite.
According to a recent tweet from B. Maze Elite, the 6-foot-4 Cain has picked up a relatively new scholarship offer from Belmont, which is located in Nashville, Tenn.
The ‘Cuse coaching staff offered Cain this past February. He has other offers from his home-state team, Tennessee, along with South Carolina, Howard and ETSU.
As we noted in a recent column, Cain is also garnering interest from 2021 Final Four participant UCLA, Missouri and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia Tech.
Competition is on the rise for Syracuse basketball 2023 target Blue Cain.
Cain once scored 73 points in a game. He is an elite guard who has fabulous scoring prowess. Presently, he’s under-rated in the 2023 cycle, but as I said earlier, it won’t be for long.
Rivals.com national analyst Dan McDonald recently took a look at a couple of players in the 2023 class who could soon make a move into that recruiting service’s updated ratings for this cycle.
McDonald included Cain in his story, calling him a “scoring guard to watch in the 2023 class.” McDonald added that Cain is a “three-level scorer capable of lighting up score boards in a hurry.”
I’ll concur with that. Collecting 73 points in one contest is ridiculous. It will be interesting to see where Cain lands in updated 2023 national rankings from Rivals.com and other recruiting Web sites.
Cain, by all accounts, should be a top-100 prospect overall in his class. Based on comments that I’ve read from analysts and other insiders in recent months, it wouldn’t surprise me if Cain ends up as a consensus four-star, top-50 player in the 2023 cycle.
