Syracuse basketball 2022 prospect Quadir Copeland will make a trip to Central New York, according to a report, and the stellar point guard is crushing things on the AAU circuit of late.

The 6-foot-6 Copeland, a talented and under-rated player in this cycle, has caught the attention of multiple national recruiting analysts. As such, I’m pretty confident that Copeland will see his national rankings climb in the near future.

According to a recent tweet from Pro Insight director of scouting Andrew Slater, Copeland says that he will make visits to the Orange and Maryland out of the Big Ten Conference.

Both the ‘Cuse and the Terrapins have received some positive buzz as it relates to Copeland in recent months, based on comments from recruiting insiders as well as articles written on the 2022 prospect.

Last November, Syracuse basketball offered a scholarship to Copeland, and a bevy of Orange fans are excited about the possibility of him suiting up for the ‘Cuse at the top of the team’s 2-3 zone.

At this juncture, Copeland has a handful of other offers, from teams such as Oregon, Miami, Maryland, Penn State, La Salle, Saint Joseph’s and Siena. Former Big East Conference rival Connecticut also recently offered Copeland.

Syracuse basketball 2022 target Quadir Copeland is primed for a big senior year.

Not too long ago, Copeland said that he would transfer from the Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J., to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for his senior season.

The IMG Academy is annually one of the premier prep-school groups around the country, and Copeland will have an opportunity while playing there to raise his national profile.

That absolutely could lead to more offers for Copeland, and as a result even greater competition for the Orange to win out in this recruiting battle.

For a while now, Copeland has been rated as three stars and around No. 160 overall in the 2022 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Rivals.com has him as four stars but not currently ranked, although national analyst Jamie Shaw said in a recent piece that Copeland should enter that recruiting service’s top-150 overall when it is next updated.

For my money, I think that if Copeland fares well in AAU competitions and at the IMG Academy, he will eventually end up as a four-star, top-50 player in this cycle.

Copeland recently suited up for Millburn, N.J.-based New Jersey Scholars Elite Basketball Club at the Hoop Group’s Southern Jam Fest in Hampton, Va.

Both Shaw and 247Sports national analyst Dushawn London said that Copeland was among the prospects who impressed them the most at this event.

London said in part that “Copeland can play either guard spot and is an athletic, crafty finisher who brings energy every time I see him play.”

Shaw noted that Copeland “has excellent vision with great size and a slippery way with the ball.”
