Last August, Syracuse basketball was the first team to offer a scholarship to 2023 four-star prospect G.G. Jackson, but it appears that his recruiting process could take off in the near future.

Already picking up offers at a steady pace, the 6-foot-8 power forward recently competed at the KC Classic in Kansas City, Mo. Jackson impressed Travis Branham, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, who provided some insights into the Orange target’s game.

Branham wrote in part, “G.G. Jackson currently ranks as the No. 34 overall prospect in the 2023 class and certainly lived up to the billing – and then some.”

Jackson, a sophomore at Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C., is a top-35 player across the country in the 2023 cycle, according to national rankings provided by several recruiting services.

He is almost at 10 total scholarship offers, with other offers including from N.C. State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Boston College and High Point.

Additionally, as we noted in a recent column, Jackson is reportedly receiving a lot of interest from fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member and blue-blood squad North Carolina.

Syracuse basketball four-star target G.G. Jackson is set to have his recruitment blow up.

Branham said that Jackson boasts “very good size and length for a power forward prospect at this stage of his development.” I’ve read numerous articles on Jackson in recent months that speak to his prowess at rebounding as well as on defense, and I believe that he could thrive in the ‘Cuse 2-3 zone.

Jackson has said in interviews that he continues to work hard and hone his craft. His perimeter shooting is getting better. He’s adding strength. And as Branham noted, Jackson is seeing his athleticism progress.

"More from Branham. “The four-star prospect is mobile, runs the floor, plays with a motor, has bounce and is quick off his feet. He possesses very good hands, touch and showcased his budding face-up game all-the-while dominating on the boards.”"

Jackson recently was named the Region III 5A Player of the Year after having a stellar sophomore stanza for Ridge View High School. To date, he is one of six 2023 prospects who have received a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball.

I’m high on Jackson because I think that he would provide solid interior scoring for the Orange, as he continues to enhance his perimeter game, too. Branham summed Jackson’s recruitment up this way, saying, “it won’t be much longer before Jackson becomes a hot name in the industry.”
