Syracuse basketball 2021 commit Benny Williams is set to compete in a major All-American game this coming weekend, and his national ranking from one of the primary recruiting services has also arrived.
Earlier this week, 247Sports published its final player ratings for the 2021 cycle, and Williams checks in at four stars, No. 37 overall, No. 9 at small forward and No. 8 in the state of Florida.
The 6-foot-8 Williams, a senior at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., is one of the highest-rated recruits for the ‘Cuse in recent program history.
Personally, I think that Williams should have come in a bit higher than No. 37 nationally, but you have to take these sorts of rankings with the proverbial grain of salt.
Williams is ultra-talented, and what he does on the court in the upcoming campaign for Syracuse basketball matters more than anything else.
For context, though, Williams is five stars, No. 26 overall, No. 7 at small forward and No. 4 in Florida, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
To me, that speaks to a larger breadth of 2021 rankings for Williams, and it reflects that he is absolutely one of the best high-school players in his class.

It appears that Rivals.com is preparing to update its own 2021 player rankings in the near future, but for now, Williams is five stars, No. 15 overall and No. 5 at small forward.
As we recently detailed, ESPN has come out with its own new national ratings for the 2021 cycle, and Williams is four stars, No. 30 overall and No. 7 at power forward. Much like 247Sports, I believe that Williams’ rankings from ESPN are a tad too low.
Still, across the bevy of recruiting services, Williams is deemed a top-40 prospect, and higher in some places. That’s pretty, pretty good.
We’ll of course provide more information about where Williams is placed in the new Rivals.com ratings for the 2021 class once those rankings are unveiled.
This Saturday, Williams will suit up at the 2021 Allen Iverson Roundball Classic in Memphis, Tenn. This provides him with an opportunity to showcase his skills against the best of the best in the 2021 cycle.
