Syracuse basketball only recently offered a scholarship to elite 2022 big man Kyle Filipowski, but the competition for him just continues to grow and grow.
One of the latest offers to the 6-foot-10 Filipowski is from Big Ten Conference member Indiana, according to recruiting guru Jake Weingarten, who added in a tweet, “Very talented big man who has gained tons of traction over the last few months.”
The talented power forward is a junior at the Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Mass., and competes for the New York City-based NY Renaissance on the AAU circuit.
His offer list is pretty ridiculous at this juncture, and I imagine it will only keep on getting bigger. Other offers include from Ohio State, UCLA, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Iowa, Louisville, Purdue, Creighton, Marquette, Georgetown, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Providence and Stanford, per a review of several recruiting Web sites.
With Orange target Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, a 2022 five-star power forward, recently picking Tennessee and opting to reclassify up to the 2021 class, the ‘Cuse coaching staff has apparently set its sights on Filipowski.
Another 2022 power forward whom Syracuse basketball has offered is four-star Maliq Brown, who goes to the Blue Ridge School in St. George, Va., and is also witnessing his offer sheet expand of late.
Syracuse basketball faces a big-time battle for 2022 four-star big Kyle Filipowski.
In a separate tweet from Weingarten, he reports that Filipowski has scheduled some official visits in June, including to the Hill and to Ohio State. Weingarten says that Filipowski is working on setting up official visits to Iowa and UCLA, and he has an unofficial visit slated for UConn at the end of that month.
Mike McAllister, the publisher of SyracuseOnSI, previously reported on Filipowski planning to take an official visit to Central New York during the first weekend of June.
It’s really encouraging that one of Filipowski’s five NCAA-permitted official visits will be to the Orange campus. That being said, the competition for his services is totally intense.
Filipowski is ranked as high as No. 31 nationally in the 2022 class by ESPN, and recruiting analysts are bullish that he will see his national ratings continue to rise. He certainly could end up as a five-star prospect.
