Syracuse basketball only recently offered a scholarship to 2022 four-star big man Kyle Filipowski, and recruiting analysts are giving a lot of praise to the 6-foot-10 power forward who plays prep-school ball in Massachusetts.

Since the Orange offered Filipowski, I’ve read a slew of articles about him, including reports from analysts and other insiders. In summation, Filipowski is a highly skilled big man who can do a variety of things on both ends of the floor.

Filipowski, who holds about two-dozen offers from a range of impressive high-major squads, is a junior at the Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Mass., and suits up for the New York City-based NY Renaissance on the AAU circuit.

His head coach at Wilbraham & Monson Academy, Mike Mannix, provided some insights on Filipowski in an interview with Mike McAllister, the publisher of SyracuseOnSI.

"Mannix said in part, “His versatility at his size, you just aren’t going to find a lot of. He’s a legitimate 6-foot-10. He rebounds what seems like almost every ball. He can handle it, he can shoot it, he can post up. He was darn close to being a 40 percent three point shooter this year. Averaged 21 points a game, 13 rebounds a game. His field goal percentage is really, really high. You just get it all when you have him as a player. This year I think he was one of the hardest working guys on the team. He really kind of set the tone for us. He was certainly in the mix every night as a guy that wasn’t going to get outworked. Really coachable.”"

Syracuse basketball 2022 target Kyle Filipowski has a strong all-around game.

Analysts say that Filipowski is quite athletic, particularly for a player of his size. They say that he defends multiple positions and rebounds well.

Filipowski can stretch the floor with his shooting from beyond the arc, but he is also effective at scoring in the interior, whether by posting up his defender or attacking the rim with precision.

ESPN rates Filipowski as four stars, No. 31 overall and No. 6 at power forward within the 2022 cycle. He is also four stars via the 247Sports Composite and 247Sports.

In the 2022 class, the 247Sports Composite has Filipowski as No. 58 nationally, No. 10 at his position and No. 1 in Massachusetts. Rivals.com, meanwhile, places him as three stars and No. 117 overall.

Expect Filipowski’s rankings to change, however. Multiple recruiting analysts said in recent pieces on Filipowski that they believe he will make a dramatic move up in the national ratings. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Filipowski, ultimately, attains five-star status.
