Syracuse basketball is pursuing 2023 five-star wing Elijah Fisher, who hails from Canada, and some recruiting analysts believe that Fisher could ultimately contend for the No. 1 overall spot in this cycle.

The 6-foot-7 Fisher, a sophomore at the Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto, Ontario, has a slew of high-major offers, including one from the Orange that he received last summer.

The 247Sports recruiting service has updated its top-75 ratings for the class of 2023, and Fisher is squarely in the top five, checking in at No. 4 overall.

Fisher is also No. 4 in this cycle per the 247Sports Composite, as well as Rivals.com. Additionally, the unanimous five-star prospect is deemed the No. 1 shooting guard and No. 1 player in Ontario, according to both the 247Sports Composite and 247Sports itself.

Despite only being in his sophomore term, Fisher already boasts some really impressive scholarship offers. Teams other than Syracuse basketball to have offered Fisher include Kansas, Florida State, Arizona, Florida, Oregon, Memphis, Seton Hall, West Virginia and Southern California.

Additionally, reports of late have suggested that Kentucky is showing interest in Fisher, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the Wildcats and other blue-blood squads get into the mix for this elite 2023 prospect.

Syracuse basketball five-star target Elijah Fisher is a premier 2023 player.

In a recent interview with 247Sports national analyst Travis Branham, Fisher had some positive things to say about the Orange program. Fisher said of the ‘Cuse to Branham, “I love the way that program is and I have gotten to know some players that go there so I feel like it’s a great organization with a lot of winning through there.”

Fisher also said to Branham that “there could be an option to reclassify,” but for now, the Canadian prospect is laser-focused on improving his craft.

In recent years, Syracuse basketball coaches have done a stellar job of bringing in some of the best prospects from Canada, including current sophomore forward Quincy Guerrier, who recently was named to the All-ACC third team.

If the Orange is able to pick up Fisher, and that’s a huge “if” given the intense competition for him, then he would represent one of the highest-rated recruits to suit up in Central New York for Syracuse basketball in recent program history.
