Late last month, Syracuse basketball got into the mix for talented 2022 power forward Maliq Brown by offering the four-star prospect a scholarship.

The 6-foot-9 Brown, a junior at the Blue Ridge School in St. George, Va., holds numerous other offers from high-major teams as well as interest from many more.

In other words, his recruitment continues to expand nationally, and the Orange is facing intense competition to ultimately – and hopefully – land Brown.

Per his Twitter page, Brown just received a new offer from Southeastern Conference member Texas A&M, which is coached by Buzz Williams, who previously led both former Big East Conference foe Marquette and current Atlantic Coast Conference adversary Virginia Tech.

Jack Herron, a senior analyst for Prep Hoops Virginia, said in a recent tweet that Brown is receiving interest from 2019 NCAA champion Virginia, Florida and Maryland.

Brown’s other scholarship offers at this juncture include from the likes of Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Penn State, TCU, VCU, Richmond, Old Dominion and Murray State.

Syracuse basketball recently entered the recruiting fray for 2022 four-star power forward Maliq Brown.

According to Brown’s bio on the 247Sports Web site, among the squads also displaying interest in him are Louisville, Ohio State, West Virginia, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Georgia.

Since Brown is only a junior, and his recruiting process could have a long way to go before it concludes, I expect to see a ton of additional offers pour in for Brown.

The 247Sports Composite has Brown as a four-star prospect, whereas 247Sports and Rivals.com rate him three stars.

Across the country in the 2022 cycle, Brown is No. 105 overall, according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as No. 20 at power forward and No. 6 in Virginia. He is No. 126 nationally, per 247Sports, and No. 142 overall in his class via Rivals.com.

As we previously detailed, Brown has competed on the AAU circuit and is good friends with Justin Taylor, a four-star wing who is a high-priority target for the Orange in the 2022 cycle.

The 6-foot-6 Taylor is a junior at the St. Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Va.
